Did one on mine last week, pretty straight forward with a little advice on here. I think the shaft is a brilliant idea, ive done 2 so far which could have meant 2 written off beds on another mower and the shaft was fairly easy to get.

This, the plug comes loose(circlip pops out)View attachment 1122653undo big nut(it WILL be VERY tight)
Undo the 5 bolts holding bed support
Support bed underneath and slide end unit off
In end unit i put a 25mm bit of old hex shaft and the plug back in and welded the plug in place(only spotted and water on straiggt away to stop heat into bearings)
So shaft has no way of ever slipping again
Refit making sure discs 4 and 5 are in time
Fit support plate then big nut
Tiggten the 5 bolts then tighten the big nut to 700foot poundsView attachment 1122653mine went saturday

Is the big nut a left or right hand thread
Get a one piece shaft at a steel merchant and be done with it. They are 14 mm manganese steel.
You used to be able to get manuals on lely-forage.com or something like that but no more it seems.
I have all manuals and exploded diagrams, let me know what you want.
if you have one of the bed so I can see how the shafts join and are fixed would be good thanks

nut is normal right hand thread

i said it will be VERY FFFIN TIGHT
try not to use heat as it will jump and screw up the threads
if that happens you will need to take every unit of the bed and swop the bolt around and weld the damaged end up and hope the other end is ok
