Lightbar

Hi!
What's the best light bar for a beginner (technology idiot)?! My dad is wanting to get one but it needs to be VERY user friendly, he's not stupid but gets confused if there are too many complicated buttons :ROFLMAO:
Thanks,
Lizzie

Get something with a screen far easier to use then just a light bar.

We've a patchwork blackbox and I can get 2 very much non technical people to use it very easily.

Will watch this with interest, I'm also looking for something simple on the gps front, don't need it for drilling so don't need it to be down to the last MM, but would use it for spraying cultivated land off where there are no tramlines and for cultivating and such like, would like it to swap between tractors easily also.

Teejet Centerliner or a tablet / phone with an app.

It would be important to mention that a phone/tablet GNSS receiver is not accurate enough even for basic lightbar use!

A tablet app could be a cheap solution and not very expensive even with a proper EGNOS (or better) external GNSS receiver. Probably not the most simple option to set up or use though.

I'm not familiar with these products but something like a Patchwork or a Hexagon Ti5/7 should be OK for the tasks kc6475 mentions.

widths less than 12m are a waste of time unless its expensive gear.... up to autosteer .
better off using foam than a light bar on that .

Get a demo on something is the best way, try before you buy, theres far too much b.s. talked about gps stuff same as eid stuff as well.

Demos should be available on all this sort of stuff , ...see if it suits you or does what it says on the box /in theory.
...practical is way, way different as we all know.
even if they are not. they should be, demo would cost the sellers much as there's too many making money out of gullible farmers as it is.

100% agree with you, and that's exactly why we do demo where possible.

To be honest, it's really down to what you want to spend. All GNSS companies should offer a decent lightbar system as a basic function to their display offerings.
All should offer you 2 years warranty as standard.
All should offer you a contact number to help you through the initial set up.
Brand name, or us less established, you have the pick!
Good luck and if you need any questions answering you know where we are!

Fome markers cost the same as a basic "lightbar" and in my opinion more difficult follow the marker than a lightbar or displayed coverage as the line of foam is not on the "wayline".

Opinions vary, a demo certainly helps on the decision.

I like the Teejet Centerliner - it has lights, but also tells you how far you are off digitally, which I find much easier to drive to
Probably accurate to 0.5m, so ok for most things other than drilling

Yes, I've managed to accumulate 3 to save moving them between tractors.
One per 50 acres farmed. :D

They can be picked up for £300 as they're so old fashioned now.
I even found one for @Drillman
