Situation Vacant Livestock Manager - Staffordshire

We are seeking an ambitious and driven individual with practical hands-on farm experience to manage a farm in the beautiful rural Staffordshire/Cheshire countryside. A new and exciting role, the Livestock Manager will head up a mixed operation consisting of a dairy unit milking over 100 head of cattle, a flourishing beef enterprise and a flock of ewes. Utilising your proven experience and knowledge you will have a unique opportunity to drive change and influence the direction of the farm. Role Responsibilities:
  • To manage the day-to-day operations of the farm, ensuring livestock and farmland needs are met
  • To oversee the milking routine, monitoring production levels and quality
  • To monitor and manage the feeding of all livestock (dairy, beef and sheep) ensuring maximum productivity
  • To manage the health and welfare of all livestock, including youngstock
  • To manage the fertility of the herd, optimising performance and yield
  • To maintain accurate records and on herd hearth, milk production and breeding
  • To undertake routine stockman duties, foot trimming and AI
  • To oversee a small team, including the creation and management of work rotas
  • To undertake routine track and field work when required
Skills you will need:
Essential:
  • Proven knowledge and experience of livestock management and production systems
  • Practical knowledge of dairy farm duties e.g. milking, AI, foot trimming
  • An interest and understanding of cattle breeding
  • Excellent communication skills, able to manage a small team confidently
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Driven and committed with a positive mindset, eager to embrace new developments
  • A practical and flexible worth ethic able to meet the needs of a farming enterprise
  • The ability to confidently operate farm machinery
  • Proficient IT skills, able to use MS Office Suite
  • A UK driving licence
Desirable:
  • Qualified in AI, Foot Trimming and Telehandler use
Remuneration: A competitive salary and package available to the successful candidate, with a house and vehicle available if required.
