Massey 246 mower

Hello guys I have been slowly updating my tractors and machinery over the past few years too be able too run a reliable fleet for a small family farm and be able too have the gear too get on when the weather allows without having too rely on contractors who have bigger customers than me....anyway iv been running a 2 drum mower .a pz kuhn 170 which I'm looking at replacing with an 8ft disk mower too get on faster with ...I have in theory bought a massey dm246 which I think was originally a fella mower?... clean tidy not done a lot from a respected dealer ect.... I make mostly round bales of hay and haylage so if the grass falls behind the mower at mostly full width it's not really a problem as it gets tedded...only thing is my girlfriends family still make their own pit silage and their mowers getting past it... the massey dm246 has a swath wheel on it too move cut grass over slightly too keep it from obscuring the uncut grass .... so my question is would a mower like this be able too leave a narrow enough swath too be able too be picked up by a smaller old trailed forager or no chance at all? Just wondered what other people's experiences have been ... I'm just running an 85 hp tractor n the weight of a conditioner n power required didnt make it appealing just curios cheers

What tractor are you using?
You would need a conditioner to do what you want direct or the back of mower.

It’s basically either a conditioner or a rake
Cheers due too a lot of traditional buildings iv 2 same dorados ....as my main tractors 85hp 4x4 handy size tractors on this kind of place... the miwers gonna be fine for my job just wondered if there were people who had swath boards or similar that would make a narrower swath if I went too help the inlaws 1 day that was all...cheers anyway 👍

Not sure how steep your ground is but 85hp would be fine for that size of mower + conditioner, just make sure your tractor isn’t too unstable with the extra weight.
