Mole Valley Farmers has formed a specialist red meat team with the aim of helping beef and sheep producers in a “challenging market”.

The team is made up of three regional specialists who will work with shareholders, members and customers to help them enhance efficiencies on farm and embrace innovation, whilst improving productivity and profitability.

The red meat team will support their existing farm and nutritional teams to give broader advice, Mole Valley Farmers said.

They are also equipped to advise on the Sustainable Farming Incentive, funding initiatives for livestock farms and aspects such as forage and grass sampling.

The team will cover the entire UK, and includes:

  • Chris Lavis – South West;
  • Rebecca Moore – South, South East and Midlands;
  • Andrew Dobinson – North and Scotland.

The team will be headed up by technical expert Dr Matt Witt, along with support from their wider business with input from the grassland, agronomy, mineral, animal health and handling teams.

Mole Valley Farmers said the formation of the team demonstrates its commitment to working with farmer members and shareholders to improve the sustainability of livestock farms and ensure that they remain and thrive.

Mole Valley Farmers head of sales, Sam Holdstock, said: “As a farmer-owned business, we not only provide competitively priced, quality inputs, but we believe in supporting livestock farmers through the provision of information, product knowledge, sharing best practice examples from across the sector, helping understand the cost of production and supply chain opportunities.

“We have developed many tools and services that can help our livestock farmers, such as our dedicated rationing programme and nutrient management planning service, through our knowledge of the latest grants available.

“Bringing all of this together via our red meat team will make it easier for our customers to access and allow us to tailor advice to individual farms,” she said.
