Why should I apologise for something I or my ancestors were never involved in or implicated???
Monarchies and governments implicated are responsible yet never bear any responsibility or suffer any consequences.
That said can we blame all the Germans (and Austrians) for starting WW2 and still holding them to account and expecting endless financial compensation....

Sarcasm can be quite selective, what maybe intended as sarcasm might not be interpreted as sarcasm.
It could be said that sarcasm is in many ways much like comedy, it can be regional.

Sarcasm is my middle name. As for equality and democracy personally I reckon it’s overrated. Basically it works on the premise that all people are equal and unfortunately they aren’t. However I’m pretty sure any plans to alter it wouldn’t go down well.

Democracies can be flawed , but then do we want a return of basically dictatorships or worse monarchies/feudalism???

Democracy gives you a Jacinta Arden or a Boris Johnson basically people who will say and promise anything to get elected. Dictatorship gives you a Putin ( although he will claim to have been elected) a person who will do anything to stay in power. Me I think people have to have some form of education in what is expected of someone who is given the right to vote it’s something you need to understand.

when I got to Garby found many of the then locals still had very fond memories of the Yanks from WW2 and of course many from the bases still lived close by.
One day took my FIL into the Fox and he got talking to an old local about thier mutual. WW2 experiences. FIL. had a habit of bad mouthing the Yanks for dropping bombs in the wrong places such as on our troops. I took him aside , Arthur , I said you must remember, many folks in here have best friends who are Yanks, the others have fathers who are Yanks
