Much tractor for £35,000?

We could do with another tractor. Currently we are hiring through harvest which is costing £700/week and then using a contractor at other times during the year. Last year in total we spent £4,000 on hire and another £2,000 on a contractor. It will do about 350 hours a year so not massive but it’ll be more convenient for it to be in the yard all year round. What could we get for £35,000? It needs to be 50km/hr, 4 spools, 650 rear tyres. Main job is grain cart, rolling and occasional cultivation with a 3m shakerator or 5f plough. Probably wants to be around 200hp due to 16t trailers on air brakes.

I'll sell you one of ours!

2011 NH t7050, 8500 hours. 50k front linkage, front pto, air brakes. Sidewinder 4 spools. New tyres 200 hours ago 710 rears. 600 fronts. Blue power.

Here she goes on a frosty morning. I'll throw in the stainless steel heat shield and toolbox too! Autosteer not included.

For the work load you mention a 150 horse tractor would be plenty but for a bit of comfort with the 50k box you would be better with the higher hp you mention. As for brand I'd say go with the one you like. A tractor needs to be functional but it also needs to be one you like and are happy to drive otherwise a days work is a chore if that makes sense?.

A valtra t170 or 190 with 7-10,000 hrs with do all you want for the next 20 yrs , get a good one for £25k

We bought a 2012 Mf 6480 with roughly those specs 2 years ago for 35k at 3.5k hours. Ideal for the jobs you want imo but depends which brands you like or already have.

Hostorically JD but more recently CNH due to unrealistic JD prices. We tried an MF before going down the CNH route but none of us like it to be honest. A £35,000 JD doesn’t look good value so they are off the list. We will look at Valtra though as I’ve a friend who rates them a lot.
