I find using the fact that a vegan diet requires supplements (how natural is that?), that organisations like the NHS and friends of the earth don't recommend a vegan diet and that they have to manipulate figures such as soya use (around 7.5 tonnes of soya bean to make 1 tonne of soya oil so you have 6.5 tonnes of by product) to further their cause are good places to start.
But as previously mentioned remember you are dealing with brainwashed morons :banghead:who don't want to listen to reason if you are dealing with the more militant variety.
Above all try and remain polite but firm with your argument.
Make them look the unreasonable ones.
Good luck (y)

It seems to me that when trying to counter the vegan, nobody asks them if they care about the countryside. I don't imagine that they would say no, so they need to be advised of these facts.

About 65% of farmland is permanent pasture and can only grow grass.

There are a whole raft of invertebrates, birds and mammals that rely on a grazed habitat for their very existence, therefore permanent pasture is a vital part of our ecosystem.

The only way that a grazed habitat can be achieved is by having sheep and cattle. The only way that these animals can be on the pasture is if the meat and milk that they produce has an economic value. People will need to buy and eat this food, they food need anyway.

If they'll listen, the methane from cattle argument is easily explained. Methane is part of the carbon cycle. If cattle numbers are stable, no new methane is put into the atmosphere. British cattle numbers are now only 60% compared to 1975. British farmers have already done their bit.

When replying to the militant vegans it's really those others who are reading the posts you are trying to convince. As has previously been said you won't win with the militants but there is likely to be a much greater number of 'ordinary ' people just watching and it is these we have the most chance of influencing. Be the calm and rational one.

Does anyone know a farmer who has the virus

We should actually be feeling sorry ?for the evangelical vegans? ,what can they eat ??- no avocados ?to be had in the supermarket.
I suppose they could start chewing on their grass lawns but that would make them produce methane ?. However some might be in dire straights as Astro turf might not be digestible! ?

Kung flu will kill the vegans off.

Think about it!

Other countries are starting to ban food exports.

The Uk isn’t very good at growing avocados or soya!

So they will be malnourished and more prone to disease......

Problem solved!

Stop worrying. Shortly we are going to be forced into eating local. That should be fun for vegans, especially in uplands.
I also ask how many tiny and unseen creatures have died to produce their veg and grain, also how much fuel used to transport from overseas. Greta needs to get onto this.
