a lot of modern cars have an electric pump to circulate oil around the turbo when you turn it off, if the temp is too warm.Tell that to the wifes bmw then
You can be giving it large down a motorway and hit traffic and it will stop....
no but it will switch off a lot sooner than i would have turned the keya lot of modern cars have an electric pump to circulate oil around the turbo when you turn it off, if the temp is too warm.
In start stop traffic, the turbo will have had time to slow down before the engine turns off. It’s not as if you’re sitting at 3000 rpm, then it suddenly stops
Yeah, but sitting on the motorway at 70 is not stressing the engine or turbo. The engine will be sitting at normal running temp. When the engine stops, the inlet air will be completely shut off, which will prevent the turbo from running on as well.no but it will switch off a lot sooner than i would have turned the key
you havent seen me on the motorwayYeah, but sitting on the motorway at 70 is not stressing the engine or turbo. The engine will be sitting at normal running temp. When the engine stops, the inlet air will be completely shut off, which will prevent the turbo from running on as well.
It’s not like a tractor full open, at max power on a cultivator or mower, with the exhaust manifold sitting amber
But cost of battery and starter motor?I seen somewhere (for cars) that if you were to be stopped and idling for more than 7 seconds it was cheaper in fuel to turn off the engine
But they don’t stop when the oil is hot, they will run on until the oil has cooled suitably, or there is an electric pump which runs on when the engine is stopped.it’s to do with temperature of oil, as I understand if the oil is extremely hot as is the turbo and it stops it boils the oil around shaft and that’s why they fail, I hate stop start on my disco for that very reason
I did in januaryIf you were really switched on ( OK, not me ) you could buy quantities at the right price. Imagine if you'd bought 1000 L before Xmas.........
YesFriend has a tank as it’s less paperwork and handy
The engine management system’s only allows the start stop work when everything right for it to workI would have to switch that feature off as it makes me cringe wen turbo isn’t run down
They will be using a fuel card , which their own store will not takeI lately noticed the asda home delivery vans filling up at their neighbouring filling station which was 8 pence dearer than their own
