@Northdowns Martin Put your postcode into " check availability " & see what comes up
Super fast fibre available at your address, but when you contact supplier they say its fttc but as we’re so far away they can’t guarantee speeds they advertise

Another option if the above don`t come up with the goods is FTTP on demand.

This has a cost but if their is service is already on a pole by your yard they may decide they can connect you for minimal cost
Worth asking the question IMO if nothing else to seek clarity on the local fibre network

There are 3 houses on this farm all occupied by family. For historic reasons there are only 2 phone lines as 1 has an extension from the other. Fibre is being strung up at a rate at the moment. So I have started to wonder about how to provide service for these 2 places. At 100M between them is it possible to transmit the bb from the fibre terminal by means of a cable or line of sight radio without too much degradation? Or should I go for a separate line and fttp to all 3? BB by mobile signal is not an option.

Any body looked into mr Musks Starlink .
Supposedly 50-150 meg on start up and hoping for 1000 meg when fully operational.
Not cheap though at around £90/ month!!!

Things to look for on overhead cables if you are likely to be able to get FTTP

You are sorted with one of these connecting block on a pole within 100m of your house
The drop cable to your property plugs into this connector

These connector domes on poles in your area mean the cable is set up to take connections

We got one of them in top pic by house and they say fibre not available , had an appraisal and they said they need to cable it all way back to exchange at 8k ! , I said the cable is already there it traces the old line all way back
there's fibre 1 mile away so I said just plug it into that !!
Why the f**k bother putting it allway down to house if u not gonna plug it in :banghead:
8k for some Internet what planet they on , will just go onto sim card the way the broadband is at present , signal has gone to pot since cv19 :banghead:

Assuming 3 houses are in good line of sight it would be straight forward to use wireless bridge kit to get a service.
Something like this would do the job
Max length with Cat 5 cable is 100 metres, if youi can run the cable safely that is probably the bomb proof solution. Exterier grade Cat cable available
VOIP is the service you need to get your phone service onto the broadband. Loads of companies "host " it. We use an outfit called Boxx. You landline number gets ported to the voip provider, much like changing mobile provider
We replaced 3 telephone lines & 2 broadband services with 1 FTTP service
Having said that it is not silly money to give each house their own line, especially if they may not be occupied by family in the future
Explaination on here how to do Cat wiring.

Thank you. This should get me started on what I need to do. I could probably string the Cat 5 cable along with the present 4 core phone line.

They have nearly completed the main trunk up the cwm now, one half mile gap to fill in before they start on the branches. Our branch has 5 poles. I was looking at the reel of cable today and it is made in India. According to the label it has 36 cores and looking at the end it is 3x12 bundles, 2.5km long.

I was helping the contractors install my branch yesterday. They had a small reel with my branch pre made. They screwed the 4 way terminal block, already sealed to the fibre, to our last pole and then ran it out towards the road. The office had measured it on the map and cut the cable to suit. Of course it ended up 5M too short. They left the last bit coiled up on the end pole of our branch so the span to the junction pole has still to be done. Like all on the ground staff they don't have a very high opinion of the office that controls them.

Well the contractors replaced my branch as above and I had an email from Openreach on Sunday last week to say that it had gone live and approach my provider for connection.
Got the little one to do the business and the process for the main house was straightforward and the promise is connection within 14 days.
However when he tried to do the same thing for the other property the website claimed fibre wasn't available. Ring BT Business and it was obvious that the guy at the other end was reading the same screen as us, so no luck there.
Little one banged off emails to BT and OR. BT have responded:

Thank you for the email, you have come into BT Shop today. We are an online
retailer: www.shop.bt.com<http://www.shop.bt.com>

Unfortunately we don’t deal with BT services or have any system integration with them.
BT services only deal with queries via voice or live chat, both methods of contact
can be found on their webpage: www.bt.com<http://www.bt.com> . Live chat has been
offline due to increased volumes in the current situation.

Voice : 0800 800 150

Sorry we can’t help with this for you, BT don’t have email as a contact method. Any
further replies to this email will be marked as resolved and you will need to
contact BT directly for a resolution.

Thanks
BT Shop

So everything hangs on OR and their response. I'm not feeling very hopeful, going to show the engineer when he comes and see what he suggests.

From OR:

Thanks for your recent enquiry via the Openreach website about getting faster
broadband.

I have looked into this and the fibre network has been built in your area but there
is an error in our records which is preventing you from placing an order. I’m now in
the process of correcting this for you.

I need to associate your address to the nearby fibre equipment. It will take us
about a week to complete this and you should then be able to place an order. I will
update you as soon as our systems reflect this.

I’ve got all of your details, so shouldn’t need anything else before coming back to
you. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

Kind regards

'Thanks for your recent enquiry via the Openreach website about getting faster

We’re sorry for the problems you’ve been having ordering fibre broadband, the fibre
network has been built in your area and, your address has been associated to a fibre
equipment and now you can place an order'

I've checked and the website does work ok now.
Little one can get on with it on his next day off.

Update is that BT Business claim they sent me an email with a query, which has disappeared. Nothing will be done until I reply, which I can't.
I'm going to suggest to little one that we make a fresh application.

My Update latest man from Openreach came to look at where my order was for. He told me that the Job of doing the underground ducting has not been completed and there is no way that fibre can be delivered to the property I want it too even though the System says it can be installed.
We then went to the hole in the ground in front of my house and he says Oh yes I could connect your house to the fibre BUT because the ground install job to other properties has not been completed it would not work, even though the work too be done would not effect what is already in the ground for my house. DURH!!!
So Bt then cancelled my order and the next day emailed me to say it has been cancelled and could I reorder, You just cant make it up.
There apparently is a man that goes by the name of Clive Seeley (CEO of Openreach/Bt I think) who, if one can get his email address and get him too read will get the job elevated to the top of any list when these circumstance's arise.
Any one got an email for him?
