Been using hyperox for 10 years ,15 ml to a 3 gallon bucket cluster dipping. Wouldn’t be without it. . I’d buy a proper pre dip for the job .
Hi Tim ,What do you use to spray it? Currently we dip our clusters in a bucket of diluted peracetic acid between cows but would like an easier, cleaner way if possible.
Thanks, I've seen the ambic perispray set up so did wonder if that was what you were using, or if there was something even more basic. I did think about a handheld garden sprayer type thing? Bucket certainly simple at least and results speak for themselves, our last test was Scc 77, bacto 5 tvc 410. Particularly pleased with the tvc, we've been averaging 5,000 (limit for raw is 20,000) but dairy inspector challenged me to get it below 1,000, he said at that point milk would be classed as sterile.Hi Tim ,
Its an Ambic Peraspray ,basically a Teat sprayer with an all orange line and a different spray head !
You hang the cluster up and spray each cup individually !
Its a bit of a fag but we tend to use it after the cows we know have cell probs /mastitis ,if we can remember !!
Its not automatic of course so ,maybe some might find the extra time a nusience .
However ,it works for us as ,as that jug dipping ,or bucket dipping isnt easy either - even less so IMO
Not sure I'd want to be pre dipping with that sort of stuff - we use a quality iodine based pre dip
I stopped pre dipping about 3-4 months ago, and I'm much happier, I still dry wipe but that's mainly to remove sand, once in grazing again I intend to just strip and put units onHaving done it and stopped doing it. Why do farmers continue with getting cows teats wet before milking ?
Same here. Absolutely the best bedding for cell count control.mainly to remove sand,
Agreed, I am very liberal with sand in the cubicles thoughSame here. Absolutely the best bedding for cell count control.
I asked because there are a few dirty b*tches that lie out of cubicles. They don't lie on slats, they choose to lie on solid concrete..no drainage pure slurry. Want to get teats clean before cupping and someone on here said with dilute peracetic the dirt just slips off.Having done it and stopped doing it. You can get a one litre hand held sprayer with an upward pointing nozzle. It's for teat spraying but could do clusters too. Thanks, I've seen the ambic perispray set up so did wonder if that was what you were using, or if there was something even more basic. Won't be using peracetic as a teat dip though!

There’s an even simpler one. Saw it at a local dairy merchant.£7.
A local dairy merchant......... Something we can only dream of in Essex!!There’s an even simpler one. Saw it at a local dairy merchant.£7.
I think dilute hypochlorite will get teats cleaner than peracetic acid.I asked because there are a few dirty b*tches that lie out of cubicles. I think it was @Sid said " If you wouldn't suck it yourself, don't put a cup on it"
Because I stopped predipping for a while, and it was lovely and quick, but wasn't far into the autumn before we started getting more mastitis. Even in summer there are some cows that get dirty. I'm not into putting dung into the tank either.Having done it and stopped doing it. Why do farmers continue with getting cows teats wet before milking ?
Fair enough. But I would be looking at cubicle management before I ever predipped again. Especially if I wasn’t having problems before housing.Because I stopped predipping for a while, and it was lovely and quick, but wasn't far into the autumn before we started getting more mastitis. When I brought the cows in by night I didn't put enough sand in the cubicles and they were dirty, extra half a tonne per cubicle, basically pristine nowFair enough. But I would be looking at cubicle management before I ever predipped again. Especially if I wasn’t having problems before housing.
