Petrol strimmers.

I bought a Stiga last year. Partly because I did a deal for a ride on and thought I could use the leverage to get a better deal. I by no means work it hard but it starts no bother every time I go to it. It is the biggest one they do, but certainly has plenty of power.

Im looking for something myself and Im down to two units.
A stihl fs 70c-e. I rented one on Friday and was blown away how light it was and how good it was. I usually end up with larger units like 4 strokes etc and they are just too heavy for grass.

Im also keen on a huskvarna 535ixrt which is battery. It wont be cheap, but two things that I like are that I will be buying a husky top handled batt saw in a few months, so it makes sense to keep to one make for batteries and charger. But the icing on the cake is the autofeed of the chord. or pushing a button. Will save me having to swap chord ever two mins. But if the unit will not run on 3mil chord I guess ill be back to the Stihl.

I'd suggest going with a Mitsubishi or Kawasaki engined machine. 43-45cc is plenty powerful and they have been around a long time and are very reliable.

I have a Husqvarna brush cutter, 325 I think off hand. Good enough brush cutter but the threads in the aluminium body are stripping which is a pain when it was otherwise good. The threads on the screws are also some odd size, so if you lose one there's no cheap replacement.

Got a Stihl battery for her indoors. It’s “ok” for tipping around light stuff and edges.
For heavier stuff, definitely need petrol. Japanese versions trump either Stihl or Husky.
I have a Maruyama going on twenty years now. Has done an awful lot of work, and never missed a beat.

Tool Station flog off whatever they have left as "out of season specials"

Got a good one for £99.99 last year. At that price you can work it hard under warranty then just buy another one in a year or two.
