What's people's thoughts on Pottinger Alpha Motion front mowers? It's a 2012 model I have my eye on at a local dealer. It would be mounted in conjunction with a rear mounted claas disco 3200.

I've got one that's a year newer. Only front I have ever run and have no issues with it at all.
Last year was the first time i had to buy blades when I had used all the one that cane as spares(20?). Never broken or lost one.
Rear being change this year, lely going, pottinger replacement. Hope that helps.

How do you find the prices of their kit compared to the competition?

Does anyone know of one for sale anywhere? I've been keeping an eye out online for a few months and havent seen one yet? I've a pottinger rear, so would like to keep the 2 the same if I could.

We bought a new one last year, it’s our first front mower and it leaves it like a bowling green. Very impressed.
Plan to add the matching rear in a year or 2.

I’ve only ever used 3.2m KV trailed mowers and it’s dodgy enough getting down narrow lanes or RH turns into fields. Is it a lot more difficult managing a front 3m mower along with a rear mower or do you go mounted rear to make things easy. Just wondering.

We are still currently using a Krone 3200CV trailed with our front and as you say, the length is crazy. Gateways are tricky and have to usually “steer” the rear mower in by pushing it out with the hydraulics.

It’s also numb at corners for the first 2-3 times round.

Tks for explanation colinV6. Is it difficult to mow cleanly and not have grass left standing or tramped on corners where the trailed did not overlap the front or do you have to pull the mower in on the corners to avoid that? Also is it preferable to go rear mounted to make transport on lanes and narrow gates easier. As I said I only have exp of trailed so I go around the field as many times as I can keeping the corners rounded and then use GPS and autosteere to split from the longest to the shortest side. Then cut the back Swarth. How do u manage with mounted and rear?

It Makes a lovely clean job to be fair, after a bit of trial and error its easiest to start with the rear mower to hedge, as when you take corners the rear pulls itself in rather than missing a bit. Once I get 3 times round I go the other way so front mower to the last break as it’s easier. Then it’s just up and down it’s easy once you have 2 rows at the headlands plenty turning space.

I will go rear mounted for convenience and ease when it’s time to change. Having demo’d both single rear and triples before it’s way easier to manage than mounted front/trailed rear.

You can see how gateways can be tricky lol
