Power Harrow rear towing hitch

Looking to use a power Harrow to level out the aftermath of harvest 19 ruts, direct onto harvest 20 stubbles as long as it’s not baked solid. To do two jobs at once I’d like to tow a press/rolls behind ideally. Anybody doing this? It’s only really a one off so not looking for costly elaborate hitching systems and it’ll probably be 3m power Harrow and a folding 4m press/rolls (no levelling boards so just the drag of the press in terms of resistance).

Yep do it all the time in nz. 6m power Harrow with 6m vaderstad roller with paddles. Also have a leveller that we to the rollers behind. Just make sure your drawbar on the power Harrow is has a ram, makes it much easier to get the Harrow lined up with the roller when hooking up, because with our setup you can’t see the drawbar from the cab.

We’ve found short discs set full depth do a better job of levelling deep ruts than a powerharrow. They do a very good job actually, did a lot this spring following maize harvest 19.

We’ve found short discs set full depth do a better job of levelling deep ruts than a powerharrow. They do a very good job actually, did a lot this spring following maize harvest 19.

I don’t want to move soil very deep as there’s a lot to do - every 10.5m potentially and it’s RG and BG soil so mixing deep isn’t an option. The idea is to run fast with the power harrow levelling boards down but no deeper than 2 inches and then do it again after a few weeks if need be.

Simple (ish) A frame style of thing attached where you would mount a drill with drawbar should do the trick

Simplt bolted it to bar that held the scrappers on. It wasnt pretty but worked

yes we do it kuhn 4 metre power harrow with rear linkage then use the bar on cs150 destoner which the towing eye goes though hitch edlington press to

if you’re going straight into stubble which we are at the moment from last Year, Don’t know what make of power Harrow You’ve got we run Kuhn A set of these tines number two in the picture absolutely brilliant and you can get them for different makes.

I used to pull a MF30 box drill behind mine. Fitted a 50mm ball hitch on the power harrow headstock and built a swan neck assembly for the drill drawbar so it tracked well and you could turn tightly. The drawbar was light enough that I could remove 4 pins and put it lower down for running the drill only for doing curved headlands etc. The ball hitch was easier to line up and would latch automatically.

Nice. A couple of reinforcing bars on the drawbar to the bottom of the A frame and it would be a lot stronger IMO

The nearer the hinge is to the tractor, the less the strain on the tractor linkage and stabilisers will be when turning at the ends, so it might be better to extend the press draw forward towards the PH 3 point than to build a drawbar extending out back from the PH. We extended our Cambridge rolls drawbar for this very purpose.
