Prostate cancer

For those that have to spend all night urinating. Did you hear about Chris Evans being told to massage the area behind his balls as he was passing urine. I have been doing this for years. You have to undo the belt and top button on your trousers to take away any constriction as well. Said to new capture who is a nurse and she thought all men knew that. Chris went from needing to pee 10+ times a night to only going once or twice. First decent sleep in years. Give it a try guys.

A good time of year to improve your odds of survival by getting your blood tested for PSA count.

Ask your GP to test if you are over 50 or visit a local testing event listed on the link above.

You can even get a home test kit now !
Just found this thread.
My OH organises testing events throughout Devon and Cornwall for this non profit charity. We have tested over 10 000 men aged over 40 in the last two years and we find cancers at every single event. 99% of the time the men have no symptoms whatsoever.

An elevated PSA test does not automatically mean it is cancer though it can be an indication that it is.

The thing with any problem is getting the correct diagnosis and after this is getting a hospital or specialist appointment.
All I can suggest here is to be the squeaky wheel.
Once inside the hospital system you should be ok. That is my experience.

They don't hang around once you are in the hospital system. It's a readily treatable issue with established procedures for diagnosis and treatment, etc.

You first need a diagnosis, usually triggered by symptoms or PSA but a lot of localised tumours will have no effect on your mortality. Almost 100% of those men will be alive at 5 years but various treatments may have you wetting your pants, frequent diarrhoea or impotent.
That is why screening can open a can of worms. You just have to do some reading and have a good specialist to discuss this options

i had an invasive biopsey a fortnight ago, after no following consultation ive been called in for a bone scan tomorrow, ive never been so scared , should i be ?
Go with the flow is all I can say. You really are in good hands.
I nearly died two years ago from stomach problems. Once I had finally been diagnosed and that took four Doctors and five diagnostics, I was put into ‘emergency procedures’ and have now fully recovered.
A pretty serious operation it was too with many squiggly bits rearranged
I’m a pretty laid back character mind.

Worrying, but good their checking.
Was your psa high, that brought on the biopsy?
I had a Multiparametric mri, in the autumn, as mine had raised.
I'd had an infection in the spring, which took several weeks of different antibiotics to eventually sort it.
During all of it, I had a flexi camera up the old chap, 2 mri's, 2 different CT scan and all was fine.
I can sympathise with your concerns.
