Rakeman 3000

Found myself considering a set of chain harrows as my old set have eventually bit the dust and are on the scrap heap to weigh in.

Was looking at the folding frame variety a while back, in particular the Agritrend 4 or 5m but also heard reports that these things can be overly aggressive ripping a high ratio of good grass as well as the dead/thatch etc. Know they have reversible mats with a less aggressive side but still…
Now considering the spring tine variety and maybe the Rakeman 3000 that a ‘YouTube’ farmer seem to be pleased with.
Can anyone comment on the Rakeman through use and ownership and would anyone know my nearest dealer to me being based in Leicestershire.

Cheers…

I know who makes the rake man , and they are made to the highest standard possible , no short cuts and no lack of steel in the key places, they are a machine that you would have for life. They work very well and get great results , I suppose you could say that it has the balance right in doing enough without doing too much.

Not really comparing oranges, two quite different pieces of kit, both very good in the right application. I can't imagine that the Agri trend is going to go ripping out good, well rooted grass.

Would be better for rough/poached ground whilst still doing a fair job in grassland. Whilst the grass harrow really only should be used for grassland rather than trying to level ground too much.

Not sure how everybody else is doing but we seem to have a heel of lot of moles this time.
We have spring tine harrows which don't really level mole hills and only use to open the sward or break slurry up on the headlands from umbilical spreading,
Not used a agritrend/jarmet type harrows before so are they any good to replace the spring tine harrows?

Put the Rakeman to one side for now as feel may have trouble locating one. Now find myself looking at the Proforge activator 3m and the Browns Grassmaster again 3m. Anyone have experience of these machines? They both seem a similar design build and price….
