Re wilded roundabouts

This might be just a South Yorkshire thing.

All the local roundabouts are turning into jungles, used to be mown every few weeks but now plant with hedge row type plants & rewilded.

This is fine if the roundabout has traffic lights, but medium sized roundabouts are a death trap now.
Blimey! Better tell the elf and safe tea people ASAP.

I couldn't understand why I was finding it so hard to negotiate a roundabout safely and realised it was due to the overgrown reservation. It really did make things quite dangerous.
And how beneficial is a 'rewilded' circle contained by wide and busy roads?. . . . . . .

Noticed driving through town yesterday how many "wild areas" there was with dogs being walked through them.

Wildlife loves cars,dogs and people

Apparently it's ok for local authorities to grow great big banks of ragwort all over the roadsides, its jolly nice for bugs to live in. As long as those unscrupulous farmers and landowners spend loads of time and money and effort controlling theirs.

But,
The once a year cut and remove is more costly than regular maintenance,
Not been cut for 4 or 5 years, its like a thick hedgerow. I'm more than happy to flail it tomorrow morning at 5am, but suspect there would be no shortage of council officers Monday morning looking for me.

Total death trap, I have near misses every day, even with the tractor, flipping advertising hoarding & some very pointless hanging baskets can see nothing.
