When did the government overreach and interference start, that's lead to all the hassle we all have now from other bodies thinking they own us or what we grow before we have even sold it?

Obviously WW2 and WW1 we were about starved out so the government had the war Ag committees etc. But were our fore barers in the 1800's free as per say to farm and do as they liked? Or was it more the medieval farmer the last of the free farmers? Obviously there were the corn laws and other laws passed by governments and kings through the ages and taxes etc.

So which generation and point in history did we think let them get their foot in the door and ruin it all.

Currently sat doing our soil management plan update along with other crap we have to do which got me resenting the generations that didn't have to do this kind of nonsense. Do they honestly think we actively try to ruin and degrade the soils which provide us with life and our livelihoods!? (Yes some folk don't care and are "bad farmers"). Also cursing those that let the thin end of the wedge into the industry and spoil it for the future generations. I do wonder what they would think now to see what levels of control and burocracy we have to operate under.

*I'm not moaning about HSE as much as i loathe it because we all have a duty to family and employees to look after them and those on the roads etc. Also, frankly they would in this modern day and age always have influence on the industry because of the claim society we are in.

Politicians are unable to control the modern civil service that has become a self serving bureaucracy. Entry into the European Union in its various forms gave them the opportunity to use the EU as an excuse and they have essentially become more and more communist in their outlook wishing to have control over all aspects of the lives of the masses.
We need a revolution to kick out the current crop of career politicians and install an administration with a clear vision of where this country is going and how we are going to get there. Sacking a few high profile Sir Humphreys would be a start to focus the minds of the rest on delivering what they country wants rather than what they want. Start with the Permanent Secretary to the Home Office.

While we were gathering sheep one day I was explaining to my youngest lad how the sssi’s had evolved from nothing into having grazing land and more importantly shelter that we aren’t allowed to use. Given the past struggles to pay for this land including some that are dead and some alive but worn out I couldn’t actually believe how bad it sounded what I was saying.
My lad had got into a discussion at sixth form with a teacher who was lecturing about how well off farmers are and how we have a free hand to do as we please. When challenged the teacher said we had these sssi’s by choice and we weren’t forced into them which is totally untrue. Further discussion was banned as the conversation wasn’t going the way she intended.
This seems to be the norm now the frog in the boiling water springs to mind

When they realised they could make unemployment figures lower by creating jobs so people could check up on others with jobs.

With respect to the Post Office, Water and utilities companies, British rail or whatever it’s called these days, privatisation has a lot to answer for. The new owners are happy to pocket the takings when all is going well, but hide behind the government when things don’t go their way.

Cannot believe the cost of timewasting in regard to the railways, workers asleep in vans etc and everything done the most expensive way. Must be billions in running railways to afford such wastage

The council’s are just a bad, I was watching them repair some potholes while mowing hay last year.

Lorry pulls up with a vibrating roller on, van pulls up driver gets out and gets on roller, lorry driver goes to sleep. After a few hours roller driver parks the roller on the lorry and they both drive off in their own vehicle.

network rail are responsible for infrastructure , and always on the back foot like the landslip the other day reactive instead of proactive .
ultimately it turns of a good amount of well paying customers
mainly due poor leadership who dont want to do a good job and have no one poking them to. hiving of money at the top
just too much money wasted on the wrong people.

same as highways and the state oif the roads and its their paymasters that soak up all the money that should go in to that job as well.

Country is floundering if the truth be known ,all because of selfish im alright controlling cartel people retire ealry on the big pension culture gravy train. pun in tended.

It's not just the railways, it's endemic in almost all big private sector firms. Not my job, passing the buck, unionised culture rotting britains productivity day and night, while small businesses and the self employed get hammered by tge government to keep it all going.

Yes crazy, seen them dump half a ton of tarmac because they had filled the holes they were told too and werent prepared to just fill others further down the road. Just bloody maddening. Electric utilities are the same, i heard since trackers were fitted they hide in towns rather than laybys as its easier to make them look busy. When your rushing about like a blue arsed fly and see these types it makes your blood boil
