SAM2

I’ve got a bit of SAM2 which is stubble turnips, fodder radish and vol barley, but I was talking to someone the other day who plans to put his first wheat with bean volunteers in for the same payment.
Has anyone else considered this?
In essence, drill your first wheat after beans, leave the volunteer beans until April, claim the SAM2 payment.
Is that eligible? Has anyone else got this agreed?
Thanks

The 'what to do' states 'you must SOW' a mix. And I know your field records will show this. Pedantic point I know, so do scoff at me. But it looks to me as though the SFI budget ain't gonna go far. Not with all these whizzy wheezes! Hey ho. That Janet Hughes TFF post is going to be framed on many a farm office. She will rival the bare bum tennis player that adorned every students wall.

Sow a mix ! --- do folk reckon that means the mix has to be sown at the same time i.e together or can you sow the mix within a few hours of each type of seed or even a few days .
bearing in mind some seeds i.e mixes of crop are better for them to establish if sown at different depths and types of seedbeds .
From a practical viewpoint would you if trying to get 90% plus of the seeds to grow /sow beans, cereals, grass brassicas,or other seeds at the same depth into the same seedbed. Highly unlikely so having had the chat with defra it seems that establishment takes precedent but its still a bit vague

As said you can sow big seed shallow but not small seed deep , so in an ideal world big seeds would go deep then sow the small seeds after , but apart from Vetch in some mixes there are no big seeds in Sam3 , best way to sow that is with a Spring Tine Airseeeder , deep drilling will spoil it
