These guys are top cattle breeders, not daft. Moved from Herefordshire to be free of quotas to expand. Think the catchy weather of the island plays a part in the round bale ethos.

Yes, a big herd of cows, producing a lot of milk from a relatively simple system, albeit on 3x milking iirc. They used to (maybe still do?) have lots of 10+ lactation cows from genetics that most would consider didn’t last long. Lots of aged Sunny Boy cows at one point iirc, giving huge volumes of milk with high solids.

Seems crazy making so many bales though.

We have done up to just over 4000 bales over 2 cuts, and that seemed like a lot.
But these dudes have about that amount in that one stack shown at the end.

The bales will be of benefit for milk solids and DM intakes in milk cows, but personally if it's for cattle I'd have that in a pit.
How much straw is available on IOM? Is it done in bales to up DM because straw isn't available to add fibre?

Someone will have to tell them to restack the bales on their sides... :ROFLMAO:
Fantastic operation. I'm surprised they don't use combi balers, and bale chasers for that amount of bales ?
