This is wrong, just spoke to someone at MVF that knows.Anything under Ā£60 is a good price, early order for this year will probably be available for low 60s.Multiple pallet orders, exact prices by late January.Get it bought. 1st Feb Mole valley going to Ā£73 a roll for cheap brand. Good stuff nearer Ā£80. Got a pallet of last years for Ā£65 coming tomorrow.

Said to my old man today.be better off feeding draff an some straw than silage. Probably use less straw bedding too.I can see us moving to a pit or feeding straw and concentrate next winter.
Same conversation here, problem at the moment is to get hold of some.Said to my old man today.be better off feeding draff an some straw than silage. Probably use less straw bedding too.
I read somewhere that a trial showed that on a straw bedded situation, feeding straw reduced bedding enough to cover what the cows ate.Said to my old man today.be better off feeding draff an some straw than silage. Probably use less straw bedding too.
Not got that issue.Same conversation here, problem at the moment is to get hold of some.
Probably true.used to feed them straw an potale before we got more ground an could make enough silage.I read somewhere that a trial showed that feeding straw as opposed to silage didn't show any increase in straw usage overall, even though the cows were eating it.
They throw draff and potale in digesters! One distillery even dries draff to burn it. Who the feck came up with that?!Said to my old man today.be better off feeding draff an some straw than silage. Probably use less straw bedding too.
They sure do or at least try to.the amount of energy it takes to burn/dry it hardly makes it worth while. They throw draff and potale in digesters! One distillery even dries draff to burn it. Who the feck came up with that?!
Feeding draff and potale is a good idea but hard to rely on getting the stuff. Safer making your own silage.
There was word malt was too dear and some distilleries were going to stop for a while
So called green energy. I ve got some draff this year for the first time and bought beautiful oat straw from my neighbour. Cows love it. Try save some of the pit silage for next year. They sure do or at least try to.the amount of energy it takes to burn/dry it hardly makes it worth while.
Distilleries round here are in full production trying to make up for lost time due to first lock down.
We take between 14t an 28t every week.
I'd guess lot of people will chop it, however many arable farm haven't got healthy enough soils to make use of the nutrition in the straw for some time. What sort of money is straw going to fetch this time? That's if it's even worth selling standing? Would imagine some may switch back to chopping to put something good back in the ground?
