If spreading slurry after cutting silage in mid may, what would be a normal application rate? Beef suckler slurry, to get grass coming again for ewes and lambs grazing.
How long after spreading this slurry can I put the ewes on it?
cheers

3000 gallons/acre or 28 cu.m/ha is what we use but we cut x6 per year weather permitting so you could go harder.

Application method will determine grazing … precision application using trailing shoe will narrow that by several weeks over a splash plate that will contaminate the leaf

I spread 1,000 gallons / acre for aftermath grazing post silage cutting. Use a splash plate. Its mixture of cattle / pig slurry and dirty water so has reasonable nitrogen levels but not too thick.
Around 3,000 if i was going to cut again.
As the slurry goes on to cut fields - i put the cows onto it when its ready to graze - never been an issue. Ideal not to put the slurry on in a dry spell but sometimes no option - and if that's the case wait till the evening time so it doesn't dry onto the ground. I try not to spread slurry on grass that's been grazed unless its been grazed real tight or topped - different if you have a dribble bar / trailing shoe I expect.
