been offered animax tracesure

They are smaller (should be easier to administer) but will they be as comparable?

cant find the quantities in 24.7

thanks

Levels of TE's are very similar in both iirc (I have them all written down somewhere) and I have used both and had good results. The Animax ones are a lot easier to give, being smaller, and are the same size as the Mayo Animal Health ones, which would be another one to compare prices on. ;)

Thanks for that...I definitely like the look of the animax ones for administrating....was just wondering if they had the same levels in both

I compared them all a few years ago, and if I remember correctly Mayo were a similar price but had a greater quantities of the trace elements in each bolus

Found my envelope with levels scribbled on (pays not to clear the desk sometimes).

I’m assuming the levels haven’t changed in the 2 or 3 yrs since I did it of course.

The bottom two are the Mayo boluses.
You might need to stand on you head to read it though? :D

I’ve tried all of them, started out with agrimin, there like shotgun cartridges to administer and sheep try to spitbthem out due to the size, then went to animax which were a doddle to administer compared to agrimin. Have since switched to mayo because the levels are the highest of the 3 and again easy to administer.

maybe look at wessex animal health ones they are the same as mayo/ wynnstay ones but with extra added , hate those adult smartrace ones, they are too big , the small lamb ones are ok (3 month cover)

I take it there only any good if there blood is low in any trace elements? We had bloods tested last year and everything we looked at was high. We used to feed vit/energy tubs and vit drench before tupping and lambing. Save 6 ton of tubs and 32 litres of vit drench with no known difference... ?‍♂️ long may it continue.

worth blood testing , they will do about 6 , two worst , 2 best , 2 in middle , not silly money . all mine came back good on everything except selenium , but still do colbalt on advice of vet as well , was really noticeable within 3 weeks . even though they looked ok before , Lambs had a lot more vigour at birth
generally if you have an issue will be same going forward , so testing every year wont be necessary,

We had blood test done on cattle and were showing low on selenium and cobalt. Never tested sheep but all graze same land. Usually give lifeline buckets to ewes pre lambing thinking I outdoor drop them and bolus instead

Try putting each bolus in a small glass of water. The smart trace one will dissolve into sludge in a very short time, whereas the animax one will take weeks to breakdown. Now you could say that the smart trace te's will then become available to the animal and pass into the digestion system very quickly, or you could say that the animax te's will be slowly released and be available for a very long time. I'm not an expert but I have used animax boluses ever since doing this experiment
