What has changed, nothing we were all moaning about it when it came out , and we are still discussing options 24 years later, come on give us an option stop just moaning!

still waiting the premium i was promised on my grains

i think it’s beyond proven now as a complete failure

the only option is to scrap it and start again but this time with farmers benefiting as its core principle …….. tell the BRC to “do one” unless they are prepared to PAY

no premium ……. no assurance

Jim Mosley needs to resign along with Christine Tacon - they have absolutely destroyed all confidence from farmers / NFU / AHDB………… and their own board now who they have started blaming publicly!

It has to demonstrate ground up change if it is to survive now and that begins with a change of management to something RADICALLY different

yes - they set out with the wrong attitude from the start
I totally agree, but as you have provided a platform to discuss and action the corrective approach to Safe Food for us all why are we as an industry still just"Moaning" and not doing something about it, I have listened and read all of the comments but they mean nothing until they bring change,

depends what you mean by doing ?

i (and others) have met with AIC and ahdb on several occasions about alternative schemes but frankly everything is constructed to make this as difficult and expensive as possible …….. because they only want one scheme really

we have spent time with completion lawyers but don’t have the millions required to take the action recommended by them

we have asked ahdb to set up a “light” scheme. and / or support passport declaration based on statutory legal inspections

but those efforts have achieved “something”. levy payers are 250k pa better off and GFC is currently in a impossible to push position, ahdb are running consultation into what is fact standards imports use on request of bfu and there is a further review of red tractor coming up all because of idiots like me asking questions on social media ….. in fact the entire future of RT looks pretty fragile to me right now so just maybe we have all achieved quite a lot

the individuals are responsible and things wont change whilst they still run things

i see big change (positive) in the Nfu already just weeks after Minette has gone - her attitude was utterly toxic on assurance as many senior nfu officers would agree i’m sure

individuals are often the problem

The AHDB really need to take the lead on some form of alternative to RT, preferably a light touch scheme, if an assurance scheme is required at all for basic feed grains. It appears that RT is not required for many livestock markets but currently essential for milk producers.

They need sacking not resigning.

i’m amazed their board hasn’t forced this - especially after Jim laid all blame firmly on them in last weeks press

in the corporate world blaming your board is suicide for any ceo

But then again its not a proper company with a proper raison d'etre. Its just a company with a guaranteed income from duress and then a few spivs deciding how divide the spoils and plan a way leach a bit more, concept of providing value for money doesn't exisit

seems the actual farmers on most agricultural boards end up gaslighted by management and therefore compliant with their every wish / 100% supportive of their every move - you see this in their unquestioning defence or anyone who ever dares criticise

they forget their job is to hold management accountable

They are hand picked by the system /existing directors
awkward farmers dont get asked to join the club

same as many company boards
then group think takes over

Clive they never originally promised a premium they promised a minus if you did not join !! I think if my old brain is still functioning a £1 / tonne fine!
I think they did, Richard. I've got one of those very old brains too and and clearly remember a character called Jonathan Tipples coming to Somerset NFU and selling his wares as ACCS - telling us all that "our produce would be more valuable with his assurance scheme"! I was sceptical then and am even more spectical now, having never received a penny in assurance bonuses since that day, twenty plus years ago!
Better still - when the government started making grumbling noises about the pesticides which we all use and threatened a pesticide tax, our dear NFU and others, came up with the bright idea of NRoSO - even more hoops for us all to jump through with absoloutly no achievement whatsoever (apart from sprayer mot's, which is a good idea) and all at added cost.

Good luck to all at BFU in trying to get this ridiculous organisation kicked into touch - hopefully we can all help you at the next stage of the review??
