Sourcing bulk wood pellet

Presumably I'm not alone in struggling to secure an affordable delivery?

I'm ready to turn the thing off and hope the world's a more normal place come next winter.

EN+A1, bulk loads - is anyone taking deliveries able to disclose what you're paying /tonne?

Perhaps I am alone? Either that or in the wrong forum.

It looking like there's supply out there, but at around £300 per tonne. Anyone would think it doesn't grow on trees.

I read this morning that the Russian boycott means that source of supply is closed. Prices over £350 per tonne.
As Kermit said, it ain't easy being green.

I've managed to get half a load at £260. It's the most I've ever paid, but I'm happy with that given the shortage, and it'll keep us going for a few weeks.

I had no idea I'd been burning Siberian wood till this morning.

My supply was from the wrong place and none available, be going back to gas but may look at Olive Stones. So no price for wood pellets. May have to get one of those Krone things that takes straw from the row and makes pellets from it. Seen it on you tube but don't know the link could perhaps be possile to make them from all the bales of wheat straw I have.

We're in Cambs. I've not looked into the DIY route for wood fuel, but imagine it's too much of an issue complying with Ofgem's EN+1 and BSL certification requirements to warrant consideration, especially as we have a functioning lpg system for backup.

I spoke to one or two guys yesterday, and they seem to believe the supply issues will be short-lived, but expect the price to stay above where it was for a while. Given the warmer months are fast approaching countrywide demand has to drop off pretty sharpish, I'd have thought ?

Got an email reply from Pelletco, basically saying they didn`t have any at the moment, but expect to in the near future
Have started mixing oats into wood pellets to make them go a bit further

did some one say on here they was offed £225 a tone for oats , still cheaper than £350 i guess

Actually looking into switching to oil for 2 of the properties, need to get a price on Kero
Unfortunately one of the properties has no backup so need to keep bio going.

350! Running on 2nd tarrif at moment, this make biomass similar cost to lpg

Thankfull that 30% of my sheds run gshp at either 20p/kw or solar electric
3.5:1 efficiency and 10p/kw tarriff leaves a margin to subsidise the pellets

This is what I can’t get with this country,
Import everything
What I’ve seen in Europe, all if not most of trimming, clearance of any wood products is chipped and used,
Good old uk just chucks it back on the floor, after chipping, as per a local clearance just taken place, might as well just pushed it up and burnt it, !!

Really have no sympathy having invested in a pellet plant on the basis of selling to the market at 250 per tonne. Then every man and his dog imports pellets from anywhere in the world at less than 100 per tonne no matter whether its from sustainable forests or not. We then in the UK get lumbered with extra BSL costs if we want to supply RHI customers at which point I mothball my plant. Am I tempted to dust off my mothballed plant, certainly not with the current government attitude to renewables and biomass in particular.
