how many would spread muck after first cut?
Got some freshish straw based pig muck to lug out and thought may be best to put it stright into a spreader and apply a light application than heap up and reload in sept.

any do it or best to stick to later in year or mowing ground?
thanks

I would, you'll probably never utilise the value of it better and if it's like last year, you may not get chance later although the straw would be better left to 'compost'.

Depends on how rotted and friable it is. Trouble is it with the weather we are having it won't wash in. You may need to harrow it in and with only dry weather it won't help the grass much.

Got some well rotted stuff which is 6months+ which will use on the grassland. We use a lad with spinning deck spreaders so it does shred it well. Just thought a light ish application around 10 to 12t acre may help in a dry time. Gonna put some fresh onto the spring barley as he can spread 24m.

Always spread after first cut .Most of it would be 12 months old .Never an issue in second cut .But must be a good spreader .I've found k-Two to be best .

Hoping we can improve this. Was starting to get too long to graze but had been starting to go to head for about 3 to 4 weeks now. Was sprayed for a docks in early april. Can only assume with the spring we have had and the spraying made it stressed.

I would need to have seen that grow over several months. I would think a good dose of slurry would help. Can you soil test it? Impressed with your dock control.

Was tested in autumn. K was 1 p was low 2 if I remember. Ph was a shade low so had lime and fibrophos early September last year. Did have a real hard time in the drought that year.
