Laureate on heavy land, aiming for 7.5t/ha and malting sample. Previous cropping either wheat or failed OSR. How much nitrogen would you give in total please? Had 40kg/ha N in seedbed @ drilling.

I’d go 100kg/ha for April drilled

Only on the failed OSR which had 30kg/ha N autumn 2022.

140 kg, half in seedbed rest as soon as up in rows, key is don’t delay second one, so if you’ve done 40 get another 80-100kg on as soon a can see tramlines IMO……and don’t forget the Terpal!

I've put all 120 N at drilling, before, after, all depending on work load, liquid fert by the way, I've made malting every time...

Thank you for the advice, been conservative and kept the total to 100kg/ha N, 80kg/ha N behind failed OSR. Should get washed in today.

thats what we did , 120 units on the day after drilling . looked like it had snowed

Last time I grew RGT Planet spring barley it had 110kg/ha N and went flat as a pancake in 2021, did have some heavy storms. Vowed never to grow spring barley again.
