Stoats/ weasels good or bad

Just pulled up in farm yard and watched a stoat zipping around in the grass
Cheeky little feker tried to catch a Robin that landed nearby
Are they good as in mini ferrets that would take on rats or just another pest

Not reared a chick for two years from the hens around the yard, stoat reared its young here two years ago and killed every one hatched at about a fortnight old!
supposed to kill rats though so suppose it depends what pets you’ve got around the yard!
Ferocious killers for their size, it won’t need any dog food left out

No “ pets “ around that yard , one or two of Roland’s mates thought
Am guessing this is a weasel as it’s quite small , about 8” long
The dog food was tongue in cheek, it certainly didn’t look in poor condition

Stoats & Weasels (y) fearless creatures, they'll noise up rats no problem, might not kill them all but will keep them on the move, not so good for ground nesting birds though.........nature's balancing scales in action
Still great to see & a sign of healthy countryside biodiversity.
That’s my feeling, we control fox etc but it’s good to see a balance

Caught a polecat in a rat trap a few weeks ago and released it as figured it may be doing some good. Until then I never knew we had polecats in the vicinity. Gather they have been making their way westwards.
Now don't they stink! I've caught quite a few over the years. Same as stoats and weasels great to see them around not so great if you keep hens.
Seen stoats tumbling around with a rabbit more than once. That's hell of a scrap.
