Tardis winter barley

Anyone growing tardis winter barley noticing many blind grain sites?

I’m growing it for the first time. I will check and get back to you. Ears are emerging now, so probably early days to see much.

I’ll try a stick my nose in it tomorrow, looks well from the road though. Second year growing it, fss. Did well last year.

Have to say the Caravelle beside it looked prettier all spring.

I wouldn’t worry a few missing grain sites it will just put the sp weight on the viable grains. This time of year.

Growing it again this year and had a walk through it this evening,it's early to mid flowering so a bit early to tell if there's any blind sites.
It did very well last year and didnt brackle like the mountain grown in the same field beside it but cassia has looked better all year so far.

I miss Cassia. Wonder if you can still buy seed. We've tardis in too

Just walking some spring barley with my agronomist so stuck my head in the tardis in the next field and can’t say as I could see any blind grains. Looks to have decent ears on it so fingers crossed it fills them.

To be fair it was hardly an ideal growing season last year between droughts and p!ssin down! Can’t say anything was exceptional.

Found on some Tardis headlands. These look and feel like blank grainsites. Most ears not affected, of those that are this looked the worst.

Wonder if it was a weather event you got further down country? Late frost maybe?
