Terriers

Poppy on the left, Finn on the right

Poppy is approaching 1 yr old and is as mad as a bag of frogs

Finn is near 3 and I’m unsure if he’s a Patterdale/Jack Russell as we were told or a cat. He’ll quite happily curl up on your knee in a ball and watch tele

he was the moy gamefairs terrier racing champion in 2022, but the new pup seems to give him a run for his money so this summer could be interesting

OK, own up! Whose dear lttle pet damaged my friend's ear? "Shot" at 7.30am today with a trail cam. Ear probably trimmed by one of the local foxers. He turns up at very odd times, not your standard dawn and dusk visitor and not every day. Snapped one of his cubs recently but haven't seen him since, so there's a den somewhere local.

I know a few of you have terriers, do they work or are they pets / companion’s?
Mrs L has two patterdales, I pretend to hate them but don’t really.
We have Boo and Wilf , both are absolutely incredible ratters , I was just clearing the area to start my sheep handling yard when they dug a bloody big hole and fetched this one out , miles better than poison around the place View attachment 1117444View attachment 1117446

Uncle used to breed some of the best patterdales in the country and internationally. Bred down from the original Nuttall dogs. Gave me my first pup. He was a proper dog. Babies could crawl all over him, pull him round by his ears tail or balls and he wouldn't even curl a lip. But he was a full blown murderous barsteward. He'd dig through a concrete floor to get a rat, he had one in some breeze blocks one day that bit him on the eye lid, he went from excited to full on murderous rage and shredded that rat into confetti.
I dug some seriously deep holes to retrieve him! Best dog I ever had.
Neighbour has a chocolate one like that. Superb dog that has sired many pups.... If Herself ever tootles off and the pup we had off @Wood field is in heat, who lnows what might happen!!

I had a jack like that, he started retrieving all by himself, we never even discussed it, he just copied the other shoot dogs. He’d even get teal from the river. He held them tight though!
I always think the presence of a terrier on a shoot makes them fly better, somehow the birds sense the terriers very real commitment.
Used to be a guy who came on our shoot. Happy go lucky scruffy terrier, chuck him in the bottom of teh wood , and 2-3 mins later he would pop out the top end then double back and spend the drive working for 30mins :)
