I couldn’t get any so just doing enzo. Been using it for last 5 years and definitely improved abortion on this farm. Question is with the cost of it do I go back now some will not be on the system
It don’t half knacker the ewes up if they get it though!Tup them as usual. Plenty of sheep are bred without ever seeing a vaccine.
We’ve injected our ewe lambs for years because we were having problems. I wonder if its worth keeping them empty this year or take a chance and tup them as usual??
If it was me I would do themNo toxovax available here either, tbh was half thinking of giving it a miss this year anyway as not bought in any replacements, would it be still worth giving them enzovax or take a chance ?
I’d always do enzo personally ,.. toxo is horrible but I personally think if you have an enzo abortion storm it’s even more heart breaking and painful.. struggling on with lambs which you know are f**ked but you try your best to get them goingNo toxovax available here either, tbh was half thinking of giving it a miss this year anyway as not bought in any replacements, would it be still worth giving them enzovax or take a chance ?
All our lambs are sold fatHow much less feed would the ewe lambs need if you did not tup them? Would it let you finish more stores?
Toxo is made to order because it has something like a 10 day shelf life, they produce it in batches … February is a very strange time of year too be jabbing with toxovax so they’re probably not currently producing itDragging up an old thread but I tried to order some toxovax this week and the vet came back to me today to say it has been discontinued. Can anyone confirm this? I find it hard to believe. Thanks
I know it is made to order, have never had a problem getting at this time of year. I always jab my hoggs late Feb/ early March as the tups go in mid April for a September lambing.Toxo is made to order because it has something like a 10 day shelf life, they produce it in batches … February is a very strange time of year too be jabbing with toxovax so they’re probably not currently producing it
I’d guess the vet practice has gotten the message a bit wrong and really what they were told was they’re not producing any at the minute … MSD can barely keep up with producing heptavac atm so doubt they’re too fussed about more complicated vaccines like toxoI know it is made to order, have never had a problem getting at this time of year. Msd came back to the vet saying they were no longer producing it and it has been discontinued. This is what the practice told me anyway but as I said in the previous post I'm not sure I believe them. However, I had tried to order from farmacy beforehand but they told me they couldn't supply it anymore and I had to contact my vet directly.
