Tractor Drawn Cattle Box

Iv been told by a dealer today that I will need a trailer with air commercials on if at any point in the future I want to operate it on a 50km tractor, is this correct? I can't imagine everyone goes out and replaces all there trailers with new when changing upto 50km tractors but I might be wrong. Taking an extra 2k for air braking.

We had Merrick Loggin make us a trailer to go under our box. It came off our lorry over 25 years ago and has been on a converted lorry trailer since. We wanted something much lower to make it easier loading on the cattle. Plus lorry tyres were a pain as they scrubbed hard due to the axle distances. Had it two years now and very pleased.

This is our Aw which we recently had. Used for cattle and sheep. Having managed to get any photos in daylight yet. Pleased with it on the whole, a couple of finishing touches were a bit untidy, but I’d have another again.

You can operate it on a 50kph tractor, but only at 40.

Can't legally drive a standard tractor at 50k so won't be any better with commercial air

Are you fearful of a punctuation on a single axel? That's what put me of, do a lot of main road driving.
I do a fair bit of main road haulage with it, I can't say I have ever worried about having a blowout on the single axle. Next week this is now all I'll think about when hauling cattle down the road!!

You were talking about buying a trailer with possibly 25 years use in front of it and you didn’t want to scrimp. In my view you would be mad not to spec air brakes.
Valuable load when full and heading to Bodmin.

M&S transport not getting any cheaper either 🤦 but I can’t make hauling my own cattle add up.
Cousin taking cattle to Dawn at Haterleigh with tractor and box from “our” area. Can’t see how that adds up.

The problem I have is I milk every morning, and blumin lorries always like turning up, when I milking, I'd rather load at 4.30, get down and back for 6.45-7 then milk. We have about 100 to go between now and Xmas, £30 head adds up on haulage to and always worried about disease will lorry rolling in.
