@Lincs Lass
I do remember one with a merlin engine but not its name ,,story was they found a warehouse in Brazil stocked to the gills with ex ww2 plane parts ,,when the war in the pacific ended ,,all the spares were boxed up and stored away ,,the years past by ,mod records were lost but the team building the tractor had been doing their own investigating and went hunting ,,merlins ,griffons ,you name ,they found it

There was a green and white puller at that time on the circuit from the Netherlands, with a Packard Merlin engine out of a landing craft. Was called Snoopy.
When it would start up there was a noticeable emptying of the showground towards the pulling track.
Happy days, Last of the proper Royal Shows.

Snoopy was from the South East of the UK Mike Cushing built and owned it some years Then sold it to the Whittingham family in near Lancaster, they have have run a number of Snoopy tractors, not sure but I believe its now Snoopy 4.
Huge improvements over the years, loads on the internet, there’s also a number of very competitive machines competing both here and into Europe. There’s normally at least one European pull held in the uk normally Garstang Lancs

I defer to your better memory Mick, now you come to mention Mike Cushing, I remember the name.
Did I imagine the Dutch connection, was it a sponsor or something, I swear there was some sign writing the original Snoopy along the lines of Niew Vennep or something similar?

photo from Liz W we believe that it’s was about 1981 we have old puller magazines and a Power Farmer report. I believe that Maurice Immick? bought an American tractor or two not sure but I think his modified was Foxy Lady And the Deutz Fahr was Sneeky Pete which might be your Dutch connection. I bought my first ever tractor from Mike Cushing, my John Deere 3350. Rang up during a really busy time, liked the sound of it but didn’t have an entire day to go and look at it.
He asked where I was from and said that I must know the Jones tractor pulling family (which I do) and said he was good friends with Bill and to ask Bill about the 3350.
That was good enough for me, any friend of Bills, a really smashing chap, would be a good sort, so I bought it unseen.
It arrived a few days later, exactly as described and has served me well. I still have it and I love it.
