Mine has a magnetic plug to so that should tell you if anything serious I’d have thought.

I guess I should expect some debris or very fine metal of some kind, new liners, pistons, bushes, bearings, new oil pump. Rings should be seating after 2 days of pulling the disc harrows.
I keep worrying a bearing nut will come loose and hammer the engine to pieces lol.

Has anybody a drawing of the output shaft assembly for the 4wd on a 640dt that comes out of the left side of the gearbox .
I need to replace the seal as we have quite a drip coming out of it so would like to know what I’m up against first.
Hopefully it will be just behind the cover plate and no further. There feels to be no play in the bearings thankfully.

Looks easy enough to do by the pic. Shaft off two bolts out clean the input shaft first and the cap with the seal should slide up the input shaft i would guess

Yes there were around that price. My father priced one but bought a s/h Massey 135 for 850 instead.

Are these universals worth much money now?? I have a 1975 universal 550 all done up this year to a decent standard and was wondering what it would be worth?? Any idea's??

They aren’t worth much unless you catch a smallholder etc wanting a tidy bus.

That's a pity. I spend a right few pound. It's been in the wife's family for 35yrs so i wanted to bring it back to life.

If you are keeping it what difference does it make? It has sentimental value which is more than any money imo.
