has the machinery brands gone nuts or is it just me?

New Tractors ever increasing for lots of reasons OK i get some of that.
But Used ones so so over priced (really)
So its ok to sell a 3 or 4 year old tractor at say 80% of its new priced current model?
and these tractors have clocked 2500 - 4000hrs yet they still want this level of money
They have no warranty neither, ive asked several & there main dealers..
wont move on price v little at all.
Yet there happy for them to sit in there yards for 6months a year even longer.
All i can say is they must get money easy or think our job is gonna increase its wealth by some margins
Roll on when subs drop coz there gonna get one heck of a wake up call.

sorry to say but you only get what you pay for , A MF at 3 to 4 years old will be worth a lot less that 80% of a new one for sure, if you want warranty on a 4 or 5 year old tractor buy a fendt & you can have another 4 or 5 years warranty on it

All second hands are rising as the new ones go up , rubbish about Massey or any brand
Was talking with a friend of mine who bought a 7718 16 plate new put 3000 hrs on it paid £65,000 for it and traded it for £62,000
New one he replaced it with was in the £80k's

That sounds a great deal around 18k to change after 3k hours. Would make me buy a mf again.

What was @paul&mandy to change his 6155r at 2500 hrs.

Am pleased you have started this , ,hope the STEALERS catch a cold , new price pulling old up , really , had this conversation with speedy at weekend ,
Missed going to a farm sale ,was a tractor there would of suited for hedge cutting rolling etc , 1995 6900 jd , tidy mind , made just short of 17000 f**king dear for an old tractor,, dealer bought ,adds 3 k on it for a quick ride home and £100 valet , no gaurantee either , .
If you bid against them they just run them upto retail to keep every one out and price up .

It is getting silly but as mentioned above if buying used it’s hard to look past Fendt if they are offering warranties. I’d have a 5 yr old Fendt if I could have another 5 yr warranty on it.

Warranty seems to be crucial nowadays
Thinking of changing my jd ahead of schedule ad it's out of warranty and a customer of ours had just had a 6.5k bill at 1500hrs on his. Massey could be the way as dealer is well thought of but who knows

I've just done a 2 for 1 deal, 2 tractors with a combined age of 31 years for new.
11 year old lost 30%, and the 20 year old lost around 55%, but the trade off is, even with the equity of two, there was still a small amount to pay.

If your waiting around for prices to come down, you maybe in for a long wait, and if they do, it will probably mean we are all fecked and can't afford them anyway.

I'm trying to do the same but a 4 for 1. With a new budget of between 25-30k it doesn't get you very much. Im looking for a something like jd6430 but prices can vary vastly especially in the 120hp region. Bigger tractors like a massey 6480 can be bought fairly easy seen a couple of 09/10 for 22k from a dealer. I even had one of them on hire but I feel it was too big for me. Tractors put feck all money into your bank account so I not want to spend a lot of money on them. At the same time I want something reliable to keep me going for the next 5-10years. It's a tricky tight rope to walk.

Spending 70k on a depreciating asset no matter how you pay for it does not sound like a good deal as I do not believe most farmers need the tackle they have. Financing half let's say 35k +interest over 3 years, means your farm has to make approx an extra £12,000/year. I suppose the toss up is between finance payments or repair bills.
Or contractors bills!
We all try to justify everything yet were all different

Maybe all the people advocating buying second hand as you save so much money rather than foolishly buying new have been listened to and demand is driving prices up
Come on you second-hand buyers you're going to have to spend more of all that money you've saved over the years

The one thing that seems to be brushed over is how come a 20k price hike in under 3 years? Madness

They only go up if buyers are prepared to pay it, as for used, nearly every Super major that will run is £1000+, yet non were sold for more than £850 new, at least your 4 year old one is a little less than it was new.

you will loose your money one way or another. either in tax repairs depreciation or finance its up to you which you want to pay

i would imagine agco will do very well in future im sure if they do it on fendt it will be a matter of time before mf and valtra

it bambozels my brain how dealer can sell second hand with no warranty, you may as well go to york or cambridge save 10k and take your chance!
