Vegan bought a farm in Scottish Highlands to grow a NUT tree forest

Could be an interesting experiment
Will productive but trees grow in the Scottish Highlands?
Who will pick them
I stayed on an organic sheep farm in New Zealand, many years ago, and if I remember correctly he was planting macadamia nut trees and grazing the sheep underneath, so to me, that sounds a good idea, not that I would do it here! All trees in hedges here.

They are currently trying to make a living by, effectively, begging.
More begging?
You get first chance to buy the first batch of mozzarella or name a cow

Not bad on top of the £500,000 start up from the government in 2018

I think the amount of nuts the farm produces may only just power the workforce needed to harvest them.
How long does it take to grow a high yielding nut tree?

anyone know what the promised return/liability is to the funders/investors? be interesting to compare it to a bank because I'd be surprised if any bank would touch this project with a pole

Take a look at Gina Bates (@hilltopgina): https://twitter.com/hilltopgina?s=09

My understanding of crowdfunding is that it's money give no string attached (NSA). There is no liability or return on investment. The people handing over the cash are donating it, not investing it.

He wouldn't be able to market it as Buffalo mozzarella though would he ? thought that was one of the regional foods protected in the EU and could only be made in parts of Italy, of course he could sell it after the 31st of oct.......

Well the cows went home to Holland ? Not sure why , perhaps the crowdfunding did not come up?
So is nut harvesting for hazel milk Mozzarella the answer?

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
