Can't believe the reported varied temps over night over short distances , think they said Oxfordshire -7 on radio ( was half asleep) overnight yet seems to have only been -1 ish Warwickshire, it's all over the shop

-8 here last night. Certainly put a stop to beet harvesting and with temps like this I would guess beet that are already damaged from the frosts pre Christmas will be buggered once the frosts go.

Not quite Narfark but in South Lincs round the Wash Overwinter cauli (Broc) in some fields has taken a punishing from the early December freeze. Growers / packers still assessing situation. Could well be short come March - May.

Funny old winter this, if we've not been not drowning, we've been freezing. -9 here last week, +10 tomorrow. It's been like that since early December with temperatures all over the place. The medium range forecast is giving a cold February. There's been very little snow, just very hard frosts setting in for a week or so at a time, interspersed with a week or two of torrential rain. Its been bloody grim.

Minus 8 first thing, but a glorious sunny day, unlike yesterday which was freezing fog and barely got above zero all day. It's a struggle but we are coping

-8 with us on Saturday night, -6.5 last night but that is positively barmy compared to the run of -12 we had for several nights before Christmas!

Minus 8 here. We are now in a routine of carting water to the pigs. Currently about 4000 head from 15 to 100 kg. Using about 3000 gallons to about 40 pens. Approx 3 hours work for one man.

It could have been worse, before starting our exit of pigs we had over 7000 head, including 450 sows. That would have been two bowser loads a day.

This was our weather station last 48 hours

but driving through Lynn at 11 am yesterday it was still -4°C and foggy.
