Well ,I don’t normally post political views on FB but being as I commented on a Conservative “ Back British Farming “ post that has clearly been removed and has annoyed me, and shows they don’t like being criticised.
I thought I would basically post what I had posted on their page.
The Conservative Party are no more interested in British Farming than the man on the moon ! They are just trying to muster up support on their old safe territory by trying to engage with their historical safe votes of the countryside, as they can see a Labour Government is rapidly approaching.
I have never voted for anyone else, but as a general election looms I think best don’t vote at all ! a wasted vote will put Labour in power I hear you say, I think, with or without my vote Labour will be in power next !
So Farmers of the UK and for myself a road haulage man, and farmer, we have more power in our hands than any other political party going .
Don’t sell anything for one week, take no livestock to market, abattoir or anywhere, sell no produce for one week, the country would starve in days.
The public wouldn’t give a monkeys if it was FABBL, Red Tractor or any other assurance scheme if they are hungry, hunger will bring any country to its knees, history has proved this.
Hauliers, we are the back bone of the UK, without trucks the country grinds to a halt, that was proven during Covid , we have the most legislative industry in the world, Euro 6, AD Blue, ULEZ, CPC, the most complex driving rules that can make you a criminal in one day, ridiculous fines for the most menial offences, cameras to drive in London to pacify Mr Khan and every Lycra Clad idiot on two wheels that think they own the road, so let’s not deliver anything to London for one week, there would be anarchy on the streets and we the farmers and hauliers would not have broken one rule.
Farmers and hauliers have just accepted the never ending rules and red tape that get piled on us, never really has one trade organisation has said “No” , enough is enough.
The actions in Europe are commendable but I can’t help thinking the long arm of the law will catch up with them eventually.
As much as would love to block the M25, it does it it’s self most days, it wouldn’t really get me anywhere, and I can assure you the DVSA would persecute me for ever more if I did !
So we have the power, let’s put it to good use, we don’t have to break any laws, we cannot be prosecuted for doing nothing, for one week.
Let’s make a change for ourselves, let’s not rely on any political party to tell us, that they support British Farming, let’s do it ourselves.
This post will probably get taken down or get me a FB ban.
This is my view, nobody else’s but it seems to make sense to me.
If you have read the whole of this post, thank you, if my punctuation and grammar is not correct, I’m sorry, I’m a better worker than writer and I didn’t like school !
I’m proud to be a haulier and a farmer and that’s all I want to do, I have no political interest, but want to earn a living that pays a fair price for the work that I put in, just like every other farmer I imagine .

UPDATE
I’m not going to name names, but the person who deleted my post has just PM me and was told to delete it, the persons job was at risk if they didn’t do it even though they agreed wholeheartedly with what I had written.
It just shows we are puppets and being made fools of, everyone of us !

Calls for downing tools and walk outs are unionised and the Gov.uk has law against such mass sedition (inciting the mob, in this case a hungry mob). But if you're SMEs or micro businesses, what can they do?

What about getting the message out that it will happen week before Easter and there won’t be any deliveries into London.
With social media publicity the supermarket shelves would be stripped by panic burying, remember toilet rolls?
It would wake up the Westminster bubble when it happens on their doorstep. The just in time delivery system operated by the cartel simply would not cope with this simple step.

I've said quite a few times on this forum that blocking roads with tractors is only going to pee people off, we have the power to shut down food supply, while that might pee off consumers it would terrify the government and that would soon get some action from them and the supermarkets .
All we need is the balls to do it and strong leadership, I think that we have the former the latter is the problem

We mustn't give notice it would allow the government/ supermarkets to take steps to ameliorate the problems or use the courts to stop it. No one is going to die if we stop food for a couple of days, once a halt to supplies is announced the public will empty supermarkets in hours, that said the right messages sent out via SM would panic the consumer to empty shelves any way

It is precisely the threat of stopping deliveries into London and the threat of stopping supply into the system that will deliver. The public will do the rest by reacting to panic to empty shelves. The supermarkets do not have the space to stockpile and their systems could not cope anyway.
Who are the government going to go after in the courts?
There are no doubt lots of reasons to do nothing but if nothing is done nothing will change. If things don’t change they stay the same.

I think it’s a plausible idea but getting enough on board would be the key. A lot of these big fat cattle lamb finishers would be loathed to do it I reckon

Yes getting most to do it is the hard part, perhaps that is why just the suggestion being made might be enough to panic the supermarkets and government to sort themselves out and if the panic happened but we were ignored then more farmers might support "real" action.
One tube of antibiotics or cleaning chemical in each bulk tank would stop it being useable, "awful accident guv but our test has failed so don't pick the milk up today or sorry driver I forgot to take the pipe out of the tank and it's full of water and chems, don't worry I've dumped the lot in the slurry pit"
