Yes the 2096 has a terrible reputation here, so worth nothing in trade, so it stayed. Some transmission parts for these old things are no longer available from Case or even breakers. This does not seem to be the situation with JD tractors of the same or earlier vintages.
Needless to say these two old reds will be replaced with green, old enough to not need urea, which I prefer to use as fertiliser.
John Deeres policy on spares (in 2004) was if they sold 6 of a part per year it was worth manufacturing when stock got low, if less than 6 a year they would sell away at stock till it was done. Seemingly they are still supplying some parts for the Johnny poppers of the 1930s.

Hi All,
As the title says what was your 1st tractor ??
I learned to drive at the age of 7 on a Grey Ferguson TED20 (petrol/T.V.O) which belongs to my dad, we still have it.
But the 1st tractor I bought with my own money was a 1938 Allis Chalmers M Crawler.
The reason being, As a kid my dad would never buy crawlers. He said "you'll kill yourself, get wrapped up in the tracks or go through the back of the barn !"
Lol.

What was your 1st tractor ?

Thanks,
Carl Hargreaves
