Many a tonne here, from the size of a tractor down to a wheelbarrow, free to anyone who could shift them, although technically they do belong to Yorkshire Water.

Spent many hours clearing 20 acres and shoving them in this bomb hole in the 60/70s

Just take a look at the TV show Salvage Hunters to see what developers and designers will pay for something that meets their needs. Obviously, your stone just hits the spot for someone and you are the only available source. Why not take advantage of that, if the boot were on the other foot, I'm sure it would cost you plenty.

This is an unanswerable question.

What will he pay?
Do you care? Do you want rid of them?
Do you have somewhere to dump them if they don’t go?
Would you rather have no free money and a rock you dug up, or a couple of bottles of wine and no rock to trip over?

They have no fixed value. If you want to spend time marketing them to a narrow audience, you might get good money for one or two.
if you want them away, take what you’re offered.

Local farmer sells a lot of rock off the farm,£50 small one,£100 for a large one. He now has a customer that builds trial courses where motorbikes jump up rocks and balence etc. It’s a good earner considering it’s all stuff that’s been ploughed up.

I got asked from a landscaping business for large boulders/ field stone ranging from 20Kg up to 500Kg ish sizes that they had spied sitting in a pile of mine,

I was going to just charge them an "x" amount for loading and delivery but then they thought I was too dear and asked could they just collect and load themselves FOC...

I have a fair idea what garden these stones are going into and I would say that there will be a fairly substantial mark up going on them.

So what is the going rate for boulders per ton?? I know what a ton of stone/rubble is worth but this is slightly different.

I'll just leave this here in case anybody is thinking about fetching said boulder in a pick-up.

Location location location.

Hereabouts, handball sized facing stone trades circa £100-200/tonne retail, £50 bulk.
Individual bigger boulders.... circa £100/tonne picked from heap, bulk 'sales' £0-£40/tonne (when they're needed 'gone', who wants the bill for moving them?).

All plus vat, all ex works.

Understand clearly the difference between a retail sale and a trade/bulk price.

As little as he can get away with.
Not really, Never crossed my mind to sell them and have plenty of filling situations for them.
I don't like punching gift horses in the mouth but don't really do the beer tokens situations anymore either..

Just trying to gauge a fair/average price for bulk without going into the part time rock trading business.

Although the guy has already rubbished my new offer per ton so I think they will be staying were they are.
