Who thinks this up?

I really do despair at some of the thinking that goes on in the corridors of power.

Who remembers Tony Blair’s pledge to march wrongdoers to cashpoints to stump up their £50 antisocial fines?

Well now our Dear Leader is proposing fines for not quarantining starting at £1000 then rising to £10,000 for a repeat offence.
At best guess, most offenders won’t have £1k in readies ....

Makes them look (& sound) stupid.

Or alternatively, maintain sensible social distancing, be particularly careful of who you mix with and where you go if you think you have symptoms. And let people know you think you've been in close contact with if this happens. Like Sweden. Seems to be working for them. Otherwise, keep calm and be sensibly British about it. Or should that read Swedish...

Why do people keep holding up Sweden as a role model, when it has the second highest death rate per million inhabitants in the world after the US. :scratchhead:

Could be worse, test positive here and as far as I can tell, you and your close contacts are taken to a guarded quarantine facility until you test negative.

The only way we will know is when covid is reduced to a normal Corona virus, either by herd immunity or vaccine, if a vaccine comes early say by Jan Sweden might end up with more deaths than most countries, if it doesnt then sweden may well end up average without the economic destruction. Countries have made a decision, hindsight will judge them but that's unfair in my view

It's not as simple as just looking at deaths directly attributed to covid, or those who die with the virus. What about all the deaths occurring and still to come due to lockdown measures? Tens of thousands of cancers are going undetected in the UK thanks to the NHS being so 'protected' through lockdown that people are either scared to go to hospital or can't get treatment. Untreated cardiovascular conditions which may prove to be fatal are similarly numerous, mental health problems are increasing, 8 million people have drunk themselves stupid and are now problem drinkers, obesity levels continue to rise etc.

I'm willing to put money on tanking the economy and creating fear through the lockdown 'cure' ultimately proving to be worse than the virus for the number of deaths caused and lives ruined but it will take a good year or so to get the final scores sorted.

Well, if it’s true that “obesity levels continue to rise”, then that just proves how stupid people are

Obviously some people are stupid because they eat too much or smoke or drink more than they should how much of what the NHS has to put up with is self inflicted or at least with a little common sense could be eradicated or delayed. When my Dad was in hospital last year every time I went in there would be people usually overweight attached to drips smoking away at the entrance ( they should have been attached to oxygen) The NHS is like having free car care or the like you don’t fill your petrol car with diesel then expect a garage to fix it for free or don’t check your oil and water because when you blow up your engine you get a new one free. But that’s the job of the beloved NHS do what you like with your body because the NHS will put you together again.

Yep, absolutely.
I was just thinking if ever there was a time to watch your weight, it must be now.
