Having trouble with yarrow in grassland, any ideas what to spray with. Have tried Forefront but only knocked it back recovering well now unfortunately.

Started to overtake grass in the horse paddocks but is now invading sheep fields. Don't mind some but it is becoming a nuisance and horses wont eat it.

Is it possible to destock, let it grow a bit, and make toppings hay? Horses like that.

Its good medicine for sheep, so don't worry about it in their fields.

Thanks for replying. We do paddock graze with electric fence so parts are rested all the time. Tried topping and liming last year, but has come back worse than ever this year which is why we tried Forefront but still cant seem to get on top of it. Does seem to be affecting our driest fields most so don't know if drought is a factor.

It spreads by seeding so pull up and dispose of flowering stems. Existing clumps may spread vegatively but it will prevent new plants germinating. I agree it seems to be less of a problem where sheep graze. Why not alternate sheep and horses which will also help with intestinal worm control. I keep my nettles, thistles and docks under control by spot spraying. A Yarrow problem has crept up on me as I have not discouraged other grassland herbs .
