Painful arm, help!

At some point my right arm has stopped working, if I have a long day nailing post and rail I am really struggling with sharp pain from my forearm past elbow on the outside of my arm. it’s strange I can move my arm and I have strength but it hurts to grip and is generally very painful, it’s at it’s worse when trying to write.
There’s also a strange click when I straighten my arm, the pain is worse when my wrist is stretched up.
if I have a steady day on it gets better, but after a day hammering yesterday I’m struggling to move my arm today
Can’t go to a physiotherapist, so I’m open to any advice

Sounds like RSI or whatever it is called these days. Lay off doing the same movement for a bit and do simple gentle arm exercises to alleviate the pain is what I was told to do.

You don't want to be working with a hammer long term as the shock to the wrists and hands wouldn't be ideal I would think.

Search musculoskeletal service Ayrshire, it will bring up the NHS physio site with videos of exercises to fix what ever problem you have.

Last time I needed physio I got diagnosed over the phone and told to use the videos provided.

Obviously if no improvement you need to see a doctor which I appreciate is not an option at the moment.

Will silage tape do the same?
How do you recover from tennis elbow?

I know a chap who gets something similar from driving the combine ?. Apparently turning the wheel is hard work ......

says doctor diagnosed him with gout of the elbow.

the rest of us diagnosed it as something else.

Things like that can be a barsteward! I had something similar a year or so ago... was too mean to go to physio but should have! Think my was a combination between a repetitive strain injury and banging my elbow off the plough as I uncoupled a hydraulic hose. Took ages to come good. wish you a speedy recovery maybe you can find a physio who can consult and advise over Skype?

maybe try and stretch and roller the tendons in your wrist and forearm .

At home sit on the floor with something like full 2 ltr bottle of pop or water and put your forearm on the bottle and gently roll your arm where it is painful over the bottle this will stretch and stimulate the tendons and muscles get blood flowing to them and help them recover . You can do the inside and outside of the arm and it should help quite a bit it will maybe hurt a bit at first but the more you do it the easier it gets.
You could also try to stretch the wrist and arm tendons also, find something to hold in your palm that is heavy enough to cause some stretch but small enough to grip firmly support back of your forearm on something like a chair seat with your palm facing up and let you wrist drop over the side while holding the weight in your palm , this will stretch your tendons after a 5 seconds gently lift your wrist back up you can reverse this and do it with back your hand facing upward also do 10 to 20 of each slowley and controlled
