If their was no live ring your sheep would still be £40 and you still won’t support live ring , shame full .
All my sheep go live thank youIf their was no live ring your sheep would still be £40 and you still won’t support live ring , shame full .
Like I say when the hammer drops.I know you wouldn’t...I’m just saying where your cattle will end up
There's pros and cons for both ---it's an age old argument which will be done to death yet again i guess
For me (and it's not everyone's priority) although i use stock markets on occasion i think they are a poor option because;
1) Animal welfare---They extend times animals are in transit/loadings & unloadings /wait around on their way to an abattoir
2) Disease control---every place that animals gather from many different farms and then sometimes disperse from again means an opportunity to spread disease---scab/MV etc
On the plus side they provide good social points for farmers and some do a cracking breakfast
Long may the choice continue
It was aimed at all not just youAll my sheep go live thank you
Oh aye as long as ...... it hasn’t happend with fat cattle the significant portion goes dead and that’s a problem. There are only pro and cons to both so long as a significant number of people continue to sell liveweight.
Without out them all the deadweight sellers would be stuffed.
Bad choices leads to bad thingsSome deadweight sellers have to go deadweight they have no choice....
Some deadweight sellers have to send them when they are told to send them, they have no choice......
Some deadweight sellers get penalised for overweight stock, they have no choice....
Some deadweight sellers are are in the pockets of the abattoirs and have to do as they are told, they have no choice....
Some deadweight sellers stock are all owned by the abottoir, so they have no choice!!!!!!
Your new auctioneer knows the craickAll my sheep go live thank you
Proportion of sheep sold live is increasing i saw in last years (?) stats ---so someone must like itThere are only pro and cons to both so long as a significant number of people continue to sell liveweight.

I really don't get this at all.The worst ones sell 1000s lambs fat but take the sh!t and out of spec to the mart lol to surpress the price per kilo so the dead weight is less helping pull prices down ! Farmers amazing
Corona virus has been the same !I wouldn't like to dictate to anybody as to where they sell their stock, it's a free world - everyone to his own......
... .BUT, all I will say is ......
We only have one example of when we ALL had to go deadweight and that was when we had foot and mouth.
Anyone remember what happened??
For those with short memories or too young to remember, the feckin deadweight buyers 'stole' a lot of stock as there was no alternative and they just named their price.
Covid could have been exactly the same if the markets had been forced to close.
I rest me case M'lord.
Not around here, and thats 3/4 prime marts, they would be given away.
I like the Angus but would never sell one live
Not bad, nearly 2 pages before that one got trotted outI wouldn't like to dictate to anybody as to where they sell their stock, it's a free world - everyone to his own......

They are encouraged by dead weight buyers to market the crap live , you know the last trailer load ...... drag price per kilo down a bit , it’s been going on for decades no denying it .I really don't get this at all.
I've just picked lambs for tomorrow. All the ugly ones will go deadweight, all the best are going lw. Someone else was saying the same on here recently. The ugly stuff will sell better dw so why would anyone do what you're suggesting?
