So the weigh bridge in the markets are bang on are they!!!!!Yet you let same people weigh them behind closed doors !
I’ve never found them that much out , for starters cattle loose more than farmers think and second their scales at home are not tested , I find farmers moaning about mart scales usually just the local exentric that has some crazy axe to grind that would still moan if the mart added 50kg s on !So the weigh bridge in the markets are bang on are they!!!!!
Yes your correct, in the store ring they can be generous on weight when grouping 6 steers at 12 months old.I’ve never found them that much out , for starters cattle loose more than farmers think and second their scales at home are not tested , I find farmers moaning about mart scales usually just the local exentric that has some crazy axe to grind that would still moan if the mart added 50kg s on !
Do the farmers moan about generous weights ? Ha only the ones buying . English marts don’t weigh stores do they ?Yes your correct, in the store ring they can be generous on weight when grouping 6 steers at 12 months old.

They don’t up north but do in Scotland I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or not , more skill required buying no weight , easy when they weighedThey do in Ross and Hereford.
I,ve not bought stores in market for a few years now, figures did,nt stack up, when i did, i did,t bother looking at the weigh bridge or you would,t buy any thing. They don’t up north but do in Scotland I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or not , more skill required buying no weight , easy when they weighed
MLC should be there to independently weigh and grade cattle, checked by RPA. I must admit that I wouldn't be in any hurry to send stock where they did their own grading.Yet you let same people weigh them behind closed doors !
This is the bigger issue, rather than the deadweight system itself. Linden Foods just been fully bought over by ABP through the week. How ma y are their to change to from ? They getting less and less .
Come to Thirsk and have a look for yourself, and I imagine it's the same in Selby and Northallerton. How many live auctions actually have several buyers bidding against each other.
No, I mean REALLY bidding against each other?
I heard that , bad news that imo. This is the bigger issue, rather than the deadweight system itself. Linden Foods just been fully bought over by ABP through the week.

Probably good news for the plant and the folk that work there but in the long run it won't benefit the producer.I heard that , bad news that imo.
Surely the competition commission needs to be stepping in...Probably good news for the plant and the folk that work there but in the long run it won't benefit the producer.
