Well if he doesn’t get rid of Red Tractor he won’t have a job when the AHDB looses the vote. Simple as that. AHDB have been dragging their heels on this matter for 9 months. D-day is looming.
What's happening in spring? Are they just consultating with farmers to see how they'd prefer to see levy spent?

If we want a ballot, do we have to trigger that ourselves?

Edit. Great to see AHDB engaging with farmers. Well done Tim. And glad to see they now understand that most farmera dislike RT, and think the time has come for big changes. With BPS reducing, we've got to remove unecessary costs.

I don't know why people engage with these organisations. They don't need to exist and should not exist. Anything accompanied by a mandatory levy should be illegal. If the AHDB is so fudging good then they should be funded by membership subscriptions which are entirely optional. Let the market decide. It never ceases to amuse me how many farmers purport to be free market capitalists yet they will defend bilge like the AHDB.

His podcast was a breath of fresh air plus his current stance of holding back the RT grants until there's a full explanation was good too

he seemed like a good guy that understands the need for SIGNIFICANT change and that Ag has got a little but incestuous in its governance and representation structures

but talk is cheap, I reserve judgment until we see some action

If he does something and gets rid of RT then he should be the Nfu president.

You are wasting your time @Clive listening to this blokes sale patter ref change at the AHDB, it will never happen, he is just trying to buy you off its as simple as that!

And how do i know that? i went to meeting after meeting of the beef and lamb board 4/5/6 years ago, they sold the same patter ref change etc, that wanted to change the AHDB for the better and wanted levy payers input into what changes they wanted, they had all this input and MANY GOOD IDEAS were put forward at these meetings and the board members agreed with them and promised change would come and these ideas would be implemented.........................

Well 4/5/6 years later NONE of these ideas have been implemented and the beef and lamb side of the AHDB has gone from bad to worse, they get something like 60 million of levy payers money every year and they WASTE the lot!!

All that AHDB bloke was/is doing Clive is trying to buy you off, promise they will change but never do anything, basically he is a door to door salesman who is trying to buy time.

AHDB should now be scrapped, it is NOT fit for purpose!

let’s see

do AHDB CEO and CFO attend sector board meetings ? these are the top 2 people who actually control change

at least i’ve tried, he’s buying nothing and was under no illusions of my views and that if they don’t do the right thing re assurance I will vote out when the time comes as despite the good stuff they do I can not support any organisation that fails to support my business

if they don’t change this time frankly they are history
