If the weather is kind and they can go out soon we get away with about 8 /100 but weather like it is and they're in for a few days and we're tearing round trying to remember where all the hurdles are. One pen of 20 has 7 pens at the moment
Friend of ours does farm buildings and says no matter how big you think your shed should be,add 50% and it you'll still look back in a few years and wish it was doubledI think the answer to the OP is, that no matter how many pens you have, circumstances will always conspire to mean that you never have enough
2013in the snow I had six ewes and their lambs in stock box and one in the telehandler bucketStart off with 12 pens for about 100 ewes end up with as many pens I can make out of anything I can find.
Bad weather turns the whole shed into a big pen and I end up muttering (every year) that I should have built a bigger shed.
Cattle trailers always a good backup2013in the snow I had six ewes and their lambs in stock box and one in the telehandler bucket
Two of them were on the top deckCattle trailers always a good backup
