why would the "colour code" of the country matter they were flying HOME to those countries not flying in from them

lets look at the full quote shall we

President of Airlines Association (ALA) in Spain Javier Gandara said: “There have already been problems at the airports over Easter and we need to avoid this happening in peak season.” He has called for National Police officers to be put on duty in Spanish airports to check passports, particularly British ones.

could this be because a number of British people have been causing trouble because they now find that they have to show their passports and follow the Rules to enter a foreign country and the old battle cry of the Brexiters "we British they wouldn't dare" turned out to be B/S
Passports have been checked since we didn't enter the Schengen area , so it's nothing new .

Mmm. Happened both ways to me, although easyJet had overloaded their staff with extra flights too.

Surely baggage is only a problem upon leaving the carrousel hall?

Also, security was the area with the least congestion. We moved through there quickly both ways because the bottlenecks were at both check-in and passports.

Again, I also saw same situation of about a thousand people in the non-EU passport queue upon arrival in Geneva, Vs no more than a dozen or two in EU queue.

Have you ever entered a foreign country via an airport and not shown a passport?

You have to show ID at security at the departure airport, you wont get a boarding pass without a passport and certainly in the UK you have to filll out the API form

Security has never ask me for ID just a boarding pass. just the normal pat down and wave with the magic wand
ever hear of self check in where your print your own boarding pass, and what a API never filled one out in my life that i knew off (maybe i did when i book the flight they do ask a lot of questions on them online forms)

and as for checking my passport. half the time they never ask, as long as im flying within the EU

fly to the usa now that a whole different ball game

ID check from the airline is for the airline’s benefit rather than anything official - revenue protection only, to prevent ticket resale. Flying internal with a decent airline you’ll be asked for neither. International flights will have passport check by airline too, but again that’s to prevent them getting fined by the receiving country and has no emigration status at all - HMG doesn’t care who leaves the country.

Mate flew from England to Scotland at the weekend and didn’t show any ID, as I’ve done many times in the past.
