Moles

Just checked and it seems that there are no moles or snakes for that matter. Harrd to believe that with such interaction between two countries that that situation still exists.

I don't suppose it would be hard for a snake to hide undiscovered in a vehicle, but struggling to think how a mole could get transported across the sea accidentally.

12 months with no replies !!
Have all your moles gone??
They are probably here !!😕

Which is unusual because there were never that many about yrs ago !! I have ten scissor traps ,I did have a lot more but they got forgotten about and will likely resurface when we plough the field :X3:
Was thinking about Phostoxin ,I have an ATB cert from a long time ago but expect thats not viable now .
Is it too expensive anyway? How much is a tube of 30 ?

So many questions ,but I need to be in the mood for setting traps because basically ,I am sh** as catching moles :D
This made me an expert :censored:

Didn't have any about but I pulled 2 mole drains down the field in frost cos the water bubbling up was pissing me off and next day mole hills were on top of slots 🙄

Just hope you catch them professionally 🙄.....

Most of the scissor traps I tried just fill up with soil and won't work... especially if rain washes be soil in.
The putange traps are pushed up the tunnel which doesn't collapse or get bunged up with dirt. I'm no expert but have caught loads of moles.

How long have you been using those? I like the idea of them going up the tunnel because you know you are'nt disturing the area around the business end of the trap maybe?
Whereas Scissor traps need careful siting and you need to exclude and air , and avoid dropping the soil down etc
Would you set two traps one in each direction ,as surely they cannot catch a mole the other side of the trap ,unless you did?

Or am I thinking about it wrong?

Ps ,they are expensive so I dont want to forget about them :X3:

3 years now. Let them go rusty and have dirty hands when you set them to try and exclude human smell. Push one up tunnel one way and another up the tunnel the other way and cover over to exclude light. Push a bright coloured marker into ground beside where you set them so you can find them again! Watch the Tube video.

Never heard of them till now.
My old dad used all sorts of traps
He even had one with a spring and spikes on it and quite often caught 2 moles in one barrel trap.
I have a few barrel traps
Might give them a try before the new ones come!!.
Thanks for the advice 😎

If you’re having soil in traps they’ve found the disturbance. Try some Talpex, won’t fail with these

June, and a dog with inherited skills will rid a lot of moles pdq. No traps required.
The time taken to train a dog to take on this task is well worth it. Every dog adjusts to the task in its own time. Some are good. Some are very good.
I have never had a dog that hasn’t clicked to moles once they realise what’s going on.
The most surprising mole mutt was one I picked up as a damaged pup at Treworgy Tree Fair in the 80’s!

My record with two dogs, one very experienced and one novice, who had his own way of doing things and which he perfected over his lifetime, was sixteen moles in one week. In June of course.
Whether this was a good number or not I have no clue but there were certainly fewer molehills😁

If we’re playing oneupmanship  , I had a local mole man in to get on top of the damned things, alongside my own amateur attempts. Over 2 years he had 285, alongside around 80 that I caught myself in the same time.
It was well worth the investment, getting them down to manageable numbers, which reminds me that I need to get going again soon. Being a ‘fair weather’ mole catcher, I don’t generally go when it’s cold, or wet, or I’m busy, or…

They look really good ! Where can they be bought ?

France. 🤐 or just Google ‘putange mole traps’. Lots of suppliers online.

I’ve a few, but only ever used them where I’ve had a d*ckhead of a mole that has learnt to fill tunnel traps. Worked every time where I’ve put one of those in tbh, but can’t see if it’s caught unless you dig it out.
With dufus and talpex traps you can check by nipping round on the quad, leaving them alone if not triggered.
