MF 7495 Vario problem

Near neighbour had a Puma box fail last year. Quoted 8k repair.
Didn’t fancy a cobbled together job and Fitted a new box at 16.5 plus vat.
However all I hear on here is complaining about D6 boxes failing and a big frame are 4K service exchange not including labour from MF.
Complete new AGCO Vario is also reasonable compared to other brands version of CVT too.

So the agco boxes arent that bad in comparrison then, been told recently a autopower for a jd 6215r is 22k llus oils,filters and fitting

No definitive answer as they can't take them apart, but a few people have suggested that a bearing may have turned in the housing. When decelerating the shaft & bearing moves back into the worn housing moving it away from the pressure plate enough for the oil to escape and loose drive.

There must be some confusion. I fully realise which one is the best value. The point I was making was just because you feel something should be cheaper doesn’t mean the manufacturer will concur.
The way these units can be stripped and recommissioned for new service is generally much more economical compared to a huge amount of workshop hours stripping and rebuilding.
NH are worse than most in this regard.

FPT are great engines. Some of the very best. The contrast from the old Square engine Fords of old to the Powerstar could not have been clearer.
I’d be reluctant at condemning their transmissions as being poor, in 1996/7 the range command was a massive step up from what had been.
It was prone to abuse and both it and it’s SLE derivatives that were used until recently were decades old and very outdated by then.
An SLE still has ratios very similar to a 5000, they just lack a gear between second & third
